The Magical Power of Anger

The magical power of anger

That’s right: magical! There’s magic in our ability to transmute our anger, not just for our business but for all aspects of our lives.

Personally, I don’t know any business owner who doesn’t, at least occasionally, experience anger in running their business. One of the hot spots are tricky experiences with vendors.

Ideally, vendors support you in your business so you can fully support your clients and customers with ease. You rely on your vendors, and they become part of what makes you and your business successful.

In worst case scenarios, though, difficult vendor experiences can actually harm or derail your businesses. I don’t need to list the potential difficulties for you…and we don’t need to dwell there, either.

In your anger and frustration with the situation, your instincts might have you making rash decisions you’ll regret and send you scrambling to find alternative providers.

LOA savvy business owners know that is a trap: ‘what we resist, persists’.

Any action you take will reflect the energy with which it was taken. The angry journey reveals an angry result.

If you don’t clean up the anger with one vendor, you’ll just experience similar energy with the next, and the next, and the next. Worse case, that anger will seep into other aspects of your business and cultivate more resentment.

However, when you embrace the magical power within your emotions, you’ll gain understanding of your limiting beliefs, and get clues to resolving not only the current issue, but any future issue, as well!

Navigate tricky vendor relations

The most reliable, and sustainable way, to manage difficult vendor relations is by understanding the energy of your emotions and the magic that is within.

This past week, I was pondering various topics to write for my next blog post, and then I received a gift of an intensely frustrating vendor experience. Don’t you just love when your real-life business hands you such opportunities?

OK, for some of you, that sounds like a ‘trick question’. It’s really not! Aware and savvy business owners learn how to manage their energy and transmute the difficult experiences into growth opportunities.

Now, I don’t go out of my way to seek anger, but over the years I’ve learned that it’s worth my energy and attention to transmute the anger, first, before taking any actions. Below is yesterday’s story broken down into the steps that helped me do exactly that: Transmute the anger into magic!

The time it takes to work through these steps will depend on your situation, and how long you’ve been practicing these skills.

STEP ONE: FEEL IT, FULLY

When you notice you are angry, give yourself a moment to really feel it in your body. This serves three purposes: 1.) Increases your awareness of your own emotions, 2.) Allows the limiting beliefs and stories (which hold the emotion in place) to surface, and 3.) This is the starting place for transmuting the emotion.

Feel the emotion doesn’t mean dwell there. Or stop there. Or let it derail you. It means allow yourself to feel what you really feel, including all levels of anger and sadness, before you continue with your inner work. Without giving yourself a few minutes to really feel your emotions, you might stuff them and the magical transmutation never has a chance to start.

So, here’s how I applied this step. Late on Monday, I became aware that a vendor had charged me for services I never requested for the second month in a row….and was only just finding out about it. It was too late in the evening to do anything, so I decided to deal with it on Tuesday.

I was so angry about it that when Tuesday morning rolled around, I was ready to fire them on the spot, and see if they had broken industry regulations by not notifying me sooner. The anger in me was so intense that I felt vengeful. I kept wanting to pick up the phone to chew someone’s face off. But each time I started to dial the number, I realized my energy was too intense and I needed to step back before going any further.

STEP TWO: NOTICE THE ‘STORY’

When we’re angry, odds are pretty high that we have a ‘story’ in place that made us angry and keeps us stuck there. In some cases, it’s not just one story, but several ‘stories’…past, present, and even future ones!

Once you’ve properly given yourself some time to feel the feeling, start noticing what story is playing in your head about this situation.

Admittedly, I was so angry yesterday, that I wasn’t able to do this immediately after I became aware of my feelings. In fact, it wasn’t until after I ordered myself to calm down, that I eventually heard myself rehashing the ‘stories’ I had going on: They are really pissing me off! This is so wrong—I won’t let them get away with it! What makes them think they can take advantage of me? I’ve been a good client for them for years, I don’t deserve this! This cannot be legal…I should report them! What kind of slimy business are they running? How many other people are they abusing?

Spot the stories? I had already concluded that they had willingly wronged me and were doing it to others. Feeling victimized, and stoking the stories that kept me a victim. Ready to get revenge! They were running a slimy operation and needed to be stopped!

Yeah, it was the last one that got my attention. Extremes often show up in ‘stories’ that keep us stuck in anger and vicitimhood. In the past, I would have sat down and made a list of these crazy stories so I could address them, one-by-one, but having done this so often…I took mental note and quickly moved to step three.

STEP THREE: QUESTION THE ‘STORY’

Or (multiple) stories. Question them. In my case, I did The Work: Is this really true? Can I absolutely be sure this is true? How do I feel when I think this thought? How would I feel if I didn’t have this story? Turn it around.

For me, the first story being questioned looked like this:
They are really pissing me off!

Is this really true? YES!

Can I absolutely be sure this is true? YES!

How do I feel when I think this thought? UGH! It makes me even angrier!

How would I feel if I didn’t have this thought? I might not be so angry, or I might not be angry at all. I might be calmer and thinking more clearly.

Turn it around: I am pissing them off!; I am pissing myself off!

Oh, yeah…there it is! Truth prevails.

As soon as I stated the second ‘turn around’, I immediately saw how I was the one who was creating my anger and I was blaming them for making me feel angry. No one can make me, or any of us, feel anything unless I/we give them the power to do so.

Just questioning the first story made it easier for me to de-escalate, and calm down. I started laughing at how I had frothed myself up in anger without having all the details or information. I was already feeling better as I sailed through questioning the other stories that propped up my anger.

STEP FOUR: LET AWARENESS BRING CLARITY

The transmutation was in process! Once I had calmed down, gained awareness by questioning my stories, it became really clear to me: When it came down to it, I didn’t have the full story. I was only seeing ‘my side’ and needed to communicate with the vendor to get the full story.

All I had was a statement showing that they had billed me for non-requested (and un-received) services, and I had allowed myself to stir up my own feelings of anger.

What do I really want to experience? I wanted to speak to the vendor to get the full story, to have my account corrected, and monies refunded.

I grabbed the statement and a piece of paper. At the top of the paper, I wrote the date, the vendor’s name and phone number. Under that, I wrote 3 words to describe how I wanted the situation to unfold:

Calm, Smooth, Easy.

Then, I wrote my objectives:

  • Ask about the statement.
  • Get the account corrected.
  • Get any refund, if applicable.

The magic was activated and ready to launch!

STEP FIVE: TAKE ACTION WITH CLEAN ENERGY

By now, I’ve felt my full emotion, noticed the stories, questioned them, and gotten clear on what I want to transpire and set my intentions. I felt so much calmer, relaxed, and at ease. Knowing that this was all going to work out, I picked up the phone and dialed the number. While it rang, I reminded myself: Calm. Smooth. Easy.

The first person I spoke to couldn’t answer any question and seemed confused. He was reflecting some of my earlier wonky energy. I knew it was time to get my energy clear: I silently re-affirmed Calm, Smooth, and Easy.

As soon as I did this, he transferred me to a second person. I re-explained the problem, and this second guy had answers for ALL my questions! His voice was pleasant and helpful as he pulled up my statement on his computer, saw the charges, then researched the requests which triggered the charges. In a calm and helpful tone, he saw the error (another client’s charges were showing up on my statement), and began apologizing.

“Let me fix this immediately. I am so sorry for this mix-up, and so glad you called!”

A computer error — that explained a lot! Immediately, in just a few minutes, he fixed the error, refunded monies automatically charged, corrected my balance due, asked if he could do anything more, and cheerfully wished me a good day.

Talk about a magical experience! I never had to raise my voice, and was easily able to remain calm during the entire encounter. The experience was smooth and easy, just as I had written down while I was getting clear on my preferred outcome. Doubt that would have been the case had I called earlier in the day when I was so angry!

STEP SIX: REST AND REVIEW

I was smiling when I got off the phone. I had been on quite the magical ’emotional journey’, going from vengeful white-hot angry to calm and satisfied, in just a few hours.

After taking a break, I came back to my office and took stock of what happened. (That’s when it became obvious that writing this post was the next step.) Take the time to learn from your experiences. If you could have done better, take note. If you did a good job, acknowledge yourself.

Without a doubt, I did a REEEAAAAALLLLY good job of feeling my feelings fully. (giggle) Although, it might have served me to notice the stories sooner. Giving myself some ‘space’ so I could, finally, notice the stories…essential to this whole process! So glad I didn’t take action when I was really angry. Very happy that I questioned the stories, and was able to laugh, before getting clear on what I really wanted. Making the call with clear energy and intentions completed the anger-to-magic transmutation.

Come to think of it, if this vendor hadn’t made the mistake to begin with, I wouldn’t have gone on this emotional journey or learned so much about myself in the process…let alone, been able to share it with you. For that, I am very appreciative of that vendor and their mistake. Bless them!

Did this post give you some insights into transmuting your own anger? Or how to work through a sticky vendor, client, or employee situation? If so, share your insights below.

Getting Into Agreement With Your Business

agreementWhat does the term “getting into agreement” make you think as a Conscious Creator of your business?

I must admit that when I first read that term, I got the impression of agreeing to disagree and forcing oneself to agree even when we don’t want to (or it doesn’t feel good). The idea, itself, was not appealing.

Getting into Agreement

Several days ago, I was looking in my library for a particular book that remained elusive as I came across Catherine Ponder’s classic Open Your Mind to Receive. Flipping it open, I came to the chapter entitled, “Your Gift of Agreement”, where the author references the ancient saying…

“When you agree with life, then life agrees with you. Always there is ground for agreement. Agree and withdraw in peace.”

Even that quote left me wondering if she intends for us to ‘stuff our feelings’ and go along to get along. If you don’t dig deeper, though, you could also be left with that incomplete impression.

Reading through a number of stories about how agreeing with their disagreeable circumstances allowed each person to succeed, I realized the connection between choosing to ‘agree’ and posts I’ve written about embracing every experience as a blessing, softening contrast, and being discerning about the labels we choose.

All of those posts were based on some profound personal and professional experiences that showed me how we *morph* the energy field around us in real-time as we shift our own energy and allow ourselves to see/feel good, no matter what is happening around us. I’ve literally experienced very dark experiences shift AS I made a conscious choice to see the good in the experience, then watched circumstances shift to reflect the good I was consciously choosing to see. Some would even call them miracles, although Conscious Creators would recognize Law of Attraction in action.

Agreement in Your Business

At some point in every business, you’ll have an experience with another person (vendor, employee, client, customer, etc.) or situation where this idea could not only make it much CPonder Agreement Quoteeasier to navigate, but allow the outcome to be pleasant for all involved.

Many who are not Conscious Creators are unaware of how the simple act of deciding we have a problem keeps the “problem” locked in place. The moment we begin to decide we are blessed, and that this situation is proof of such blessings, we’re opening the door to experience the blessings embedded in the problem—and to watch the solutions reveal themselves!

We have the power to free ourselves almost from the moment of acknowledging our belief that a problem exists.

Ponder encourages her readers to agree with the good in an adverse situation, even when it’s in the past: “When you agree with a situation by pronouncing it good—whether it seems to be good for you or not—you are agreeing with the unseen good in the situation. You are opening the way for it to appear.”

Your Business Is Listening

As you open the way for good to appear, you will notice opportunities, people, and solutions that elude those who are focused on the problem(s). This is the Law of Attraction revealing itself to us in every part of our life and business! Decide you have a problem, and you do.

The more you decide your problem cannot be solved, the less likely you’ll become aware of solutions. Decide that you are blessed, that there is good abounding in your situation(s), that everything and everyone is serving your highest good, and likewise you’ll be proven right!

Henry Ford was believed to have said, “Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”

Ponder shares a number of stories where people came together in agreement for the benefit of all involved, but she also reminds us that we can do this on our own by ‘speaking our agreement in our own heart’.

I’ve experienced this firsthand on many occasions. One time, I was dealing with a very difficult and abusive client. She was quarrelsome and constantly changing the specifications and scope, although she seemed unaware.

In the middle of her project, when I was not about to quit, this client called me and began insulting me over the phone. Instead of responding in kind (which anyone would have said I was justified in doing), I let her speak as I opened my mind to the idea that she was a blessing. I silently spoke Ho’oponopono to myself, and she began to calm down then excused herself from the call.

Although I was shaken from the experience, I also knew that if I didn’t clear my own energy, the difficult situation with this client would prevail. Then, completing the project would be even more difficult!

I stopped where I was in my office, put my hand on my heart, and took several deep breaths as though I was breathing through my heart. (This is the way HeartMath teaches first responders to calm themselves in the middle of crisis.)

From this centered place I thanked this woman for being a blessing in my life and business. I asked for white light and angels to support this woman in whatever crisis she was facing, and I gave thanks for the unseen support I was receiving. In just a few moments, I felt calm and clear, and ready to finish the project for this client.

From that point on, every time I dealt with this client she was congenial and easy going as if she was a different person! Yet…I had not said a word to her about her abusive behavior toward me. We had not experienced any of the drama that is normally involved in confrontations. The project was completed successfully, and everyone was happy.

Difficult clients can be declared a blessing, and frustrating business scenarios can be named a success. By opening the door to seeing our most difficult business issues as a blessing, we take our focus off problems and the universe responds. Even if you don’t know what the future holds for your business, you can start now by labeling your business a total success. Today, and every day.

Ponder also shares a story of a business woman who found herself in the presence of a man who talked lack, poverty, and limitation which left her feeling impoverished. This negative focus affected her own finances, and soon she was blaming this man for her failing business. Can you relate?

At some point, she remembered the power of agreement and chose to reverse her thinking, look past his negative attitude, and agree with the well-being in her situation.

She said to herself: “This man is in my life for my good and for my prosperity.”  Soon after, through this man, she received a lucrative business referral. Then, he faded out of her life by moving to a distant city. Nothing changed for her until she changed her own attitude, and declared the good in this man and her situation.

Recognizing our power to agree with the current circumstances, imagining it working for our benefit, we soon realize there is no such thing as failure. Even the most difficult experiences teach us something about ourselves and others.

Where can your business benefit from declaring success, and seeing the good?

The Incredible Power of Decision

decision

[This article about the power of decision first appeared on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

The Law of Attraction is part of my daily life now, and applying the techniques has become second-nature to me. Not only am I experiencing great results, I have discovered deeper elements to experiencing success. None is more telling, more potent or more closely tied to success than the incredible power of decision.

Decisions: Left Brain or Right Brain?

Decision is normally thought of as a left-brain thought process, a logical activity devoid of emotion that functions from analyzing data and making a choice. However, I’ve discovered that decisions have a hidden emotional element, that when ignored leads to disastrous results.

Furthermore, when one choice feels better, it is divine guidance, if you will, to move in a certain direction. Ignoring that emotional guidance is usually what creates most human drama. We want to do one thing because it feels better, but we convince ourselves we can’t have what we want (pick your reason, it doesn’t matter) and decide not to follow the course that feels best.

Instead, we slug forward with a decision that feels awful and brings even worse results. That push-pull sets up the drama and the heartache. Without doubt, that is the fastest recipe for failure and a miserable life.

Many people decide, before even trying, that they cannot afford (financially, emotionally, physically, or spiritually) to take a certain action and, in that decision, they squash any possibility for success before they’ve even started. They spend the rest of their life wondering “what if” and playing the push-pull scenario over and over in their heads.

Emotions and Decisions

Decisions, like other thoughts, are made of energy frequencies that include emotional energy. The level of emotion for each decision is based on how connected we are to the expected outcome.

For instance, the decision to use your life savings to start a business might have a relatively high emotion-to-outcome factor, compared to deciding what to have for breakfast or where to park our car.

However, that same decision regarding your life savings might have a lower emotion-to-outcome factor if you have a supportive partner who is making plenty of money to cover monthly expenses for the foreseeable future.

Quantum physics has shown us that everything around us is made up of possibilities and probabilities of conscious always-in-motion Source Energy. Thoughts and emotions are made of this same conscious Source Energy, moving through all matter and across all space and time.

In the decision-making process, when we take a moment to connect to our inner guidance, Source Energy, with practice we can clearly tell which ideas feel best. Which possibilities feel best.

While women are often raised to acknowledge and use their intuition regularly, men still use theirs but interpret it more as a gut feeling. There’s nothing woo-woo about it—the body’s compass is giving us feedback on our thoughts all the time.

As we take notice of the better feeling thoughts, and move toward them, we become even more attuned to better feeling thoughts. Results of our actions reflect the energy with which those actions were taken.

Honing this gift of guidance, turning to it for every decision, the guidance develops into intuition you can always trust. Those who have been deemed visionaries invariably follow their gut feeling, even when everyone else around them are telling them to do something else!

Guidance from Source Energy is unique to each individual, so what feels good to one person—the one meant to take the related action—usually does not feel good to those who are not called to take action. This is why it makes no sense to ask others what they think/feel about guidance you’ve received.

Using our power to decide, in itself, releases stuck energy and sets up powerful momentum. Rather than being stuck in the quagmire of competing options and doubts, making a conscious and clear decision has within it the power to move us forward toward our goal. We’re essentially fine-tuning the signal we’re sending to the multiverses.

Life…A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Norman Vincent Peale always said that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy, meaning that life gives you what you believe it will give you. This means you are always right. If you believe you will succeed in life, you are right. If you believe you’ll fail in life, you are right. If you believe people are trying to hurt you, they will. If you believe people are conspiring to help you, they will.

The Law of Attraction set us up to experience what we believe, what we expect, by delivering experiences of equal vibration to our dominant thoughts. If you think you need to be college-educated to succeed, but can’t afford to be college-educated, then by default of the first decision you have already decided that you cannot succeed. Until you decide that the first thought no longer serves you, and create a new thought to operate from, you will remain stuck in a can’t-succeed cycle.

The good news…you can always change your thoughts! It’s never too late to decide to incorporate thoughts that serve you. Whether you choose to use affirmations alone or use a combination of affirmations with other techniques,

When you truly decide, you get clear in your intention, and when combined with positive emotion that clarity brings swift results. With clarity aligned with joy and enthusiasm, Source Energy is now activated to assist you in receiving what you’ve asked for.

You are then positioned to take action that feels more like play than work. You’ll stay with the process longer and more enthusiastically because the journey feels so good. So, not only is the decision clear, but the action that follows is also full of positive energy. What an unbeatable combination!

Don’t worry if you don’t know which steps to take next, after the decision. The decision itself, with enhanced clarity, will start to reveal the next steps. But nothing happens, until a decision is made.

Make a Decision Today

Ask yourself…

Am I living the life I want to live?

Am I experiencing joy and enthusiasm on a regular basis?

If not, make a decision today that the next time you are faced with any decision, you will make a conscious effort to choose the option that feels best to you.

Decide you live in a benevolent universe that is always supporting your choices.

Decide that Source Energy is providing the good feeling as a way to guide you to the best action for you.

Decide that you will live the life you really want to live!

With the momentum of each decision, opportunities will begin showing up to support you. Don’t take my word for it. Give it a try!

If you’ve already experienced the power of decision, share your decision AHAs below in the comments…

Believing in the Power of Possibilities

possibilities [This article was previously published on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

Possibilities for Improvement

Whenever someone wants to create change in their life, whether it be to their body, their home, their relationships, their career, their income, or all of the above, they first have to be able to develop a positive concept of “what is possible”. It is from that place of positive possibilities that they can determine what the next steps will be, for otherwise they would not know where to start.

What IS Possible?

The answer to that question depends entirely on who you ask! What’s interesting about ‘what is possible?’ is that the answer is not a one-size-fits-all solution as some experts would claim. It is really a range of answers, a realm if you will, from the easiest to more difficult, from the very small to the grandest of grand to that which has never been considered…and the answer is constantly changing as the universe evolves!

Every person’s realm of possibility is the unique intersection between what they have heard others accomplishing and what they can currently imagine is possible in their minds.

Why is this so important? People act on what they believe is possible for them. If they don’t believe they can do better, they rarely try. Plus, each person is going to have a realm of possibility that is slightly different from others, pre-set by what they learned was possible in their youth, and based on life experiences. Someone growing up poor being told ‘you can’t have what you want’ has a much different pre-set realm of possibility than one who grew up wealthy being told ‘you can have anything you desire, and you deserve the best that life has to offer’. Furthermore, if as an adult you’ve received additional feedback about ‘what is possible for you’, that also goes into the realm of possibilities.

Are you getting a picture of how complicated this can be?

Can you see that how you were raised may be slightly less important that the kinds of personalities support you as an adult?

Can you see how co-creation is more difficult between parties who have opposing realms of possibility?

Many people, if they haven’t heard of others doing something will conclude that it simply cannot be done (which is rarely true) and will not even try. If they are surrounded by people who do not support their desires to be better and do better, they might give up. However, if they have the support of those around them and a creative sense or internal vision of the possibility, they will make an effort…some even feel compelled to try. This is how inventors come up with stuff the rest of us say, “Brilliant idea…why didn’t I think of that?” Engineers who find break-through solutions have done so from an expanded viewpoint of what’s possible. Inventors are willing to open their minds to a greater realm of ‘what is possible?’. Scientists who make great breakthroughs, artists who create new mediums, all of the people who go beyond the barrier of ‘what is possible’ have the same thing in common: A willingness to challenge preconceived ideas and allow themselves to imagine a better way.

Extreme Makeovers: Who Holds the Vision for Improvement?

Extreme makeovers on TV are very popular. Unless you have permanently unplugged your TV, or never owned one, you have likely seen one of the many makeover shows on TV. There have been makeover shows on virtually every theme possible: losing weight, improving wardrobes, decorating or renovating new rooms and/or entire homes, improving physical features or looks…you name it.

I often wonder: What happens to the ‘made over’ after the cameras are gone? How does someone, who has a low opinion of themselves, move forward when others have shown them the possibilities to do and be better? Some follow-up shows have revealed that the inner work needed for change was lacking in these shows, so the recipients went right back to their old way of being. The way of being they knew and were comfortable with experiencing.

A while back, I saw a makeover show on Food Network where an award-winning chef and interior designer came into a run-down restaurant to help the owner improve their business by making over the entire restaurant. New menu and new restaurant decor. The restaurant had been successful once, but started going downhill and never recovered.

Apparently, anyone walking into the restaurant could see (and smell, according to the chef) and probably taste, too, why the restaurant was suffering…anyone, that is, except the owner and his family. They were used to the sights and smells, and had developed a mind-set that it was too hard to change. They no longer saw the possibilities for improvement. They needed outside help to change.

It was also very clear to see that the award-winning experts had a much grander vision of what was possible than the failing restaurant owner. The owner was so stuck in the negativity surrounding the failing of his business that he had a hard time accepting the suggestions of the chef and interior designer. He had not been able (or willing) to see their vision and was highly critical of their efforts until the restaurant makeover was complete. Once he actually stepped into the new vision for his restaurant, and sat down to taste the new menu items, then he was able to grasp what was possible. As a result, he’s kept up with the improvements, and the restaurant is now much more successful than ever before.

That episode of Restaurant Makeover illustrates why so many people stay stuck when they are spirally downward, unable to correct the problems and change course. On one level, they do want improvements, to change their course, shift their experience—but they are so mired in the “what is” that they are unable to envision something greater, something better, something beyond. They absolutely need someone who can see more options, who isn’t mired in “what is”, and can create the space for greater possibility where none existed before. And they must be able to listen without judgement to suggestions that are offered. For many people, that is really hard to do! But, it’s not impossible.

Making Big Changes
So, what do you do when you know big changes need to happen, but you aren’t quite sure change is possible? Here are some suggestions that have worked for me:

Step 1: Decide It starts with deciding that you are ready and want to make big changes. Whatever change you are envisioning will require stepping outside of your comfort zone, and believing something greater is possible. It absolutely cannot be done unless you are committed to the process.

Now, deciding doesn’t guarantee you will know HOW, in that moment, to proceed. However, the power of deciding will set you on the journey of discovering how.

Step 2: Seek help Can you do this on your own? Most people cannot make big changes without the assistance of someone else. We need someone who isn’t emotionally involved in our life to show us other possibilities. Seek an advisor, mentor, coach or counselor who will hold you accountable and help you shift out of your pre-set preconceptions about what is possible for you. Most people choose a coach or counselor because they are readily available, ready to start immediately, and already experienced in helping others.

Step 3: Raise your vibration Allow your subconscious to connect the dots for you. Meanwhile, go do some fun things…go for a walk in the sunshine, play with your pets, visit friends, spend time with loved-ones, meditate, journal, watch an uplifting movie, or whatever you identify as fun for you. Use this time to life yourself vibrationally, and refresh yourself mentally and emotionally.

If you are really struggling, taking a nap to release stress can be very beneficial. You might need to repeat this step many times between the other steps to keep your mind relaxed. A stressed mind will not be helpful, as it is more likely to direct you to vibrationally-equivalent stress-filled ideas and stressful outcomes.

Step 4: Research Find out what the most successful people in the related industry are doing. If you want to lose weight, find out what the experts suggest for diet, exercise, and supporting therapies. These days, the web is a great place to begin searching. Refrain from pre-judging what you read about or deciding that you don’t have the money or resources to do what others have done. Just concentrate on finding out what others have done as it might spur other ideas.

Step 5: Brainstorm Then, it’s time to ask your imagination to provide solutions: Brainstorm ideas, and withhold judgment of any single idea until later. Just let the ideas flow forth. Write down whatever ideas come to you. The more you try this technique, the more ideas will flow. You can even ask the person assisting you to brainstorm with you, if they are willing. Ask first. Most mentors and coaches will do this, but I am not sure about all counselors as different kinds of therapies have different approaches.

Step 6: Take a break before reviewing Remember to rest your mind regularly during this process, and allow yourself to have fun doing things that feel good. Once you feel you have completed your research and brainstorming, set the information aside, and again, go do some fun things. Let your mind relax, while the subconscious works out some solutions. When you are relaxed and feeling good, review your compiled list of ideas. Notice which ideas feel good, even if you are unsure about how to do it, or fear you don’t have the resources/time/money/whatever to go that route. The ones that feel good are the best options for you. This is where a coach or counselor can really help you believe in yourself. Also, notice what new ideas come to mind that might be better options for you. For instance, if you’ve always wanted to learn to dance, consider taking lessons as a way to learn AND get aerobic exercise.

Step 7: Pay attention for right action Right action is the action that is, deep in your heart, right for you. Once your subconscious mind begins to work on these ideas of what’s possible, and you’ve reviewed your research and brainstorming, you may begin noticing opportunities. New information may be sent to you. New ideas will pop into your awareness. Hybrid ideas—a combination of what has been and done what really appeals to you—may bubble up. Be willing to consider ideas that may have seemed out of reach. Pay attention to everything that shows up or comes to mind, and how you feel about each idea.

Follow and take action on everything that feels good to you! The way you feel is guidance for what is best for you…your right action. When you feel sure about a certain action, take it. When you feel unsure or doubtful, go do something else. Often, when we are in a relaxed state, we’ll know exactly what steps are best for us.

A good advisor, mentor, coach or counselor can also support you in weeding out the unhelpful energy, so you can discover the right choices for you.

Is there something in your life that you are now committed to changing? Share below what possibilities you are choosing to believe in….

Step Into Your True Power of Creation

5644742_s_standInPower_cropped

Dear Business Owners,

My deepest wish is for you to realize, and step into, your true power of creation.

Why is it that you think nothing of creating products or services for your clients—out of nothing more than sheer inspiration—yet you don’t realize that you have the same ability to create success in your business?

You are a powerful being capable of amazing creations and accomplishments. The ability to create success is your birthright. You may have forgotten it, but you can never lose it entirely.

Over the years, I’ve received countless phone calls and emails from you complaining about what is going wrong in your business and your frustration in how to fix it, yet the power to do so has always been within you from the time that you were born. In fact, you’ve (unconsciously) created your problems in the same way you can also create your solutions!

In order to create solutions, though, you first need to become conscious of, and step into, your own true power of creation. This is imperative for your business to grow and thrive.

Here is what you might be doing to block your own power:

Ignoring your inner guidance (intuition). You own inner guidance will always direct you in the right direction. When a decision needs to be made, know that the answer IS inside of you. Get quiet, know the right answer is present, and listen for it. Assume and feel that your Divine Self / Christ Consciousness is at work within you finding the perfect solutions, then be in that energy and listen. Be ready to take inspired action.

Doubting and questioning yourself. The more you question yourself and ask others, instead of listening for your own guidance, the more you are blocking your own intuition. Some take this so far that they end up stuck in the pit of victimhood. You are also sending a signal to the Universe that you don’t know of and are unaware of any solutions, which will keep them vibrationally elusive until your energy shifts. Release the bad habit of doubting and questioning yourself, or seeing yourself as a victim, and make a conscious choice each day to affirm and know that the perfect solution is coming into your awareness. Then, get ready to receive!

Chronic complaining, to yourself and to others. Do you remember a time in your life when you didn’t complain? For most of us, that was back when you were much younger, before you had developed a bad habit of complaining. Many of us grew up learning that the only way to relate to others was through complaining and fault-finding. Complaining is a habit that is a form of negative affirmation—which limit you and block you from receiving anything positive! The Universe is always responding to the signal you are sending, and complaints just tell the Big U to send you more that you can complain about! The good news is that you can replace a bad habit with a new better habit…like letting what annoys you point you in the direction of what you prefer, and appreciating your new preferences. Abraham calls that ‘Taking the Bounce’.

Getting caught up in the ‘outside world circumstances’. This is what I often hear: “But you don’t understand, this (fill in the blank) is my problem and as long as it exists, I’m screwed!” With a belief like that, you surely are! And yet, you are infinitely more powerful than any circumstance that comes your way…if you believe you are. The outside world is a reflection of what is going on inside of you, and nothing changes outside until you change yourself on the inside. This concept took me a long time to understand, and now Quantum Physics is showing us how this happens. Bashar has said, “Circumstances don’t matter. Only state of being matters.” When we’re so focused on ‘the problem’ being our roadblock, the Law of Attraction can only line us up with more of that. You are the only one with the power to create problems or solutions in your world. I know…that seems like a lot of responsibility. Take a deep breath! Take a few deep breaths. Taking full responsibility is the hardest part of the process, for most people, but doing so makes everything else much easier. What you created, you can begin anew and create differently from an upgraded perspective!

Resisting or refusing to create an environment for your success. I get it. It seems easier to stay where you are and keep doing what you’re doing. If that’s your preference, then keep doing it. But you’ll also have to let go of your expectation of improvement because that will require creating a different environment for your success. That might include changing how you talk to yourself and others about yourself and your business, who you spend time with, where you focus your attention, expanding what you believe is possible, using your imagination to focus on positive possibilities, and caring enough about how you feel to set strong boundaries. If your (internal and/or external) environment has been nurturing failure, then it’s up to you to change the environment if you expect a better outcome.

Here is what you can begin doing to unblock, and step into, your own power:

• Honor your inner guidance (intuition). No one has your back like your own inner guidance. Connect with and listen to your inner guidance on a regular basis. Doing so will make you very sensitive to how your guidance communicates with you. Over the years, my inner guidance has developed a shorthand that I know instantly what is right or not-so-right for me. I listen for it, feel for it, receive it, and honor it by taking appropriate actions based on the guidance. And yes, I ‘thank’ my inner guidance on a regular basis!

• Consciously choose to trust yourself. Ask your inner guidance. If the answer isn’t immediate, trust that your guidance will show up in some way. Perhaps it needs to come through another person or another situation that has yet to happen. Feel your higher self / Christ Consciousness working on your behalf, feel your appreciation for the support, then relax and focus on something that you enjoy. Sparks of insight usually occur when we are in a relaxed state of mind, often focused on something unrelated.

• Affirm, meditate on, and visualize your good. Everyday. As often as possible throughout your day. Let every thought and feeling (thought + emotion) you have focus on what feels better to you in any given moment. Train your mind and heart to lean toward the positive. In the beginning, this might take a lot of concentrated effort (depending on how long you’ve wired your brain to do the opposite), but after you’ve been doing it, it becomes easier and easier. Until, one day, you notice that it has become your ‘new normal’. Like a train (of thought) gaining momentum as it hits the summit and begins the route downhill. The cells of your body are like cells in a petri dish—affirming, meditating and visualizing your good not only uplifts your mind but also benefits every cell in your body. Your whole body will begin to vibrate at a higher level, attracting people, opportunities, and resources that you previously could not access vibrationally.

• Take full responsibility for your state of being. Let me restate: You are infinitely more powerful than any circumstance that comes your way. Everything changes (in a good way) when you take full responsibility for consciously choosing a positive state of being. Not just acquiring a positive state, but learning how to return to that state when an experience knocks you into the (vibrational) bushes.

• Nurture your success. Value yourself enough to consciously upgrade your self-talk (cultivating your own affirmations is a great way to do this). Choose your words carefully when speaking with others about yourself and your business, as you are creating what you think and speak. Be discerning about who you spend time with, be conscious of where you focus your attention throughout the day and as you fall asleep. Open your heart and mind by expanding what you believe is possible. Using your imagination to focus on positive possibilities, and caring enough about how you feel to set strong boundaries. If your (internal and/or external) environment has been nurturing failure, then it’s up to you to change the environment if you expect a better outcome.

But wait, you say…all of your recommendations is about ‘inner work’!

That’s right. 🙂

BLOG_InnerWorkThe most important part of business success is the inner work you do before you take any physical actions! Once your energy is positively aligned with the inner work, every action you take will be the ‘right one’ for you and your business. Therefore, your inner work is more important than, and bears a greater influence on, any other business actions you take!

Too many business owners take actions from a defeated feeling of failure, a mindset of doubt and mistrust, an unwillingness to imagine a better outcome, and end up nurturing their failure. Then, when the outcomes are poor, they observe what they’ve created and then have more proof of their failure, frustration, doubt, and mistrust. It’s a vicious cycle.

Rather than take full responsibility for their power, the unconscious business owner will blame others, the economy, or ‘circumstances’, completely unaware that THEY are the ones who created all of it!

Here’s the good news: It’s never too late to become a conscious business owner and step into our true creative power. Whatever we’ve created, we can begin anew and create differently.

By honoring our inner guidance, consciously choosing to trust ourselves, affirming/meditating on/visualizing our good, taking full responsibility for our state of being, and actively nurture our success.

That is how we step into our true power of creation as a business owner.

Don’t just take my word for it, though. Give it a try for yourself…and keep in touch. If you are struggling, I am here to help. If you’ve already been doing this inner work for a while, share below in comments what you’ve experienced so others may benefit.

Your Beautiful Power

Dove-Patches-Video

Have you seen this video by Dove?

Showing us in sequence just exactly how powerful our beliefs are in affecting our perceptions, researchers asked women to apply a “Beauty Patch”. They told them what to expect, and asked them to wear the patch as well as keep a video journal. Watch what happened next…

If you are a frequent visitor to this blog, you are probably smiling and nodding your head. The Placebo Effect exhibited in this video is just one of the well-documented examples of how our beliefs can literally change our life experience. Many of us have wondered (more than just out loud), if the Placebo Effect is so effective (at least 30% of all placebos work better than the actual drug being tested), why aren’t we harnessing the power of the placebo with no side effects to heal versus harmful medications? Well, we know the answer from the past…we get to decide the answer for the future. 😉

Actually, many doctors hate the Placebo Effect and think it’s a hindrance drug testing. In fact, the Placebo Effect is so maligned in the medical community that most doctors want to figure out how to ELIMINATE it completely, rather than figure out how to make it work for us so we can take less medications. Imagine how much nations could save in national medical costs if we worked with placebos instead of eliminate them. 😉

Each of these women started the study feeling they needed something outside of them to make them more beautiful, and ended up discovering the deepest truth of life: life is an inside job. What a powerful and beautiful lesson that is!

Now there’s also brain science that can explain how this works. Janette Dalgliesh, the LOA Brain Whisperer, states in her new book, Mastering Your Everyday Superpower:

For me, these concepts lead to one inescapable conclusion: that my reality is unique to me, not just in the sense that it’s my own perception, but in the sense that as I interact with it, there is a two-way flow. I create it through my brain. Sometimes I do that in a self-aware, conscious way, and sometimes I do it in a default, unaware way.

So do you. And so does every human being on the planet.

Amazing, isn’t it? Here’s something else amazing: Mastering Your Everyday Superpower is currently free on Amazon! You want to get your own copy and learn how you can master your own beautiful power.

Disclosure: Because I know Janette Dalgliesh’s work in this area, and believe in the importance of getting this information out to the world, I have chosen to become one of her affiliates. When you make a purchase of Janette’s offerings, you not only benefit from the experience but I am also compensated for sharing this material with you.

Power Animals

Have you ever contemplated the power that animals bring to your life experience?

animalsAs I type this post, I am sitting next to an open window with the sounds of hundreds of birds chirping. No, I don’t live in the country but in a rather large suburb, an area known as Birdland. Groves of mature trees attract birds to nest…from hummingbirds in my backyard to ravens and even some hawks and wild parrots! I happen to live near a large intersection, yet, more often than not, the noise from the birds is so loud that you can’t even hear the nearby traffic.

I love the sound of birds chirping, even at night. It connects me to nature and soothes me.

Indoors, my kitties have a way of bringing me into the Vortex of love and appreciation simply by BEing—reminding me of the importance of rest, relaxation, connection and quiet time…and a little play time is good for everyone! When it comes to napping coaches, they are the best hands-on paws-on coaches!

Their presence is ever-felt, even though they are usually just quietly sleeping nearby or fascinated by a spider or bug in the corner. Unconditional love, openness to experiencing the moment just as it is, and willingness to be vulnerable with a human (many times their size) are ever-present lessons that pets gift their human companions.

The HeartMath Institute in Boulder Creek, CA has discovered that the relationship between humans and animals is mutually beneficial, and it can be profoundly beneficial for both humans and animals. In addition to the emotional benefits, research conducted at the institute found that a type of heart-rhythm entrainment, or synchronization, can occur in interactions between people and their pets. People also benefit from befriending farm animals…actually, I have heard that chickens are quite a lot of fun, as are pigs, goats, cows and horses! Farm animals have been used to rehabilitate wounded soldiers, psychiatric patients, and former convicts.

Not only do the humans enjoy it and benefit, but so do the animals! The heart-rhythm coherence improves the health and immune system for all parties involved. I’ve adopted cats who looked like they were not going to live long, and then noticed their health, coat, and disposition improve immensely as they were exposed to plenty of love and appreciation. (I’ve heard avid gardeners say the same is true of plants.)animals

It’s  also quite possible that repeated physical benefits of connection with animals could be entraining humans to feel good even when just *thinking* about animals and nature. We remember how good the last connection felt and look forward to experiencing that again.

Even when we have suffered the loss of a pet, we are able to fondly remember past experiences even as we cuddle and enjoy the company of a new pet. Pets teach us the profound lesson that real love never dies~it just transforms, like all energy. When we connect with our pets, the love we feel is so deep and meaningful that almost nothing else matters in that moment, and we are transported away from anything not matching that loving vibration.

Deliberate creators know that a beloved pet has the power to shift us almost instantly from a bad feeling place into a high-vibration. When we are in a high vibratory energy pattern, we become a closer match to our high-vibing desires and therefore closer to bringing them into our physical experience.  Most deliberate creators will quickly admit that their love for their pet(s) is their go-to vibe shifter that works every time!

Another thing cats teach Deliberate Creators: You are not a victim to what is happening around you. You always have the power of choice toward something that (or someone who) feels better. Never settle – if you have to, get up and MOVE to find good-feeling people and experiences.

So, the next time you hear birds chirping or connect with animals, remember the AMAZING power they provide us…day after day, freely and only with the hope that you will join in the love.

Effective Solopreneur: Energy Management

Why Worry?Almost 20 year ago when I was going through a particularly frustrating period of my life someone gave me the Why Worry? graphic [see right].

At the time, I was going through a difficult divorce while raising a not-yet-diagnosed toddler with Asperger’s Syndrome, working full-time at a Silicon Valley company and spending a great deal of my time worrying about WHAT IFs. No doubt, all that worrying was a colossal waste of what little energy I had available.

My analytical left-brain appreciated the statistics about the pointlessness of worry. I’d read it to remind myself, but before long, I’d find myself worrying…again. Why was that happening?!? More importantly, what could I do about it?

Even though I could logically see that worry was a waste of time and energy, my creative right-brain had become quite dependent upon worrying. You see, I had trained myself (over many years) to worry… about everything. I was really good at it, too! That’s why my creative thoughts immediately went *there* time and time again.

My brain defaulted to worrying, and I was so stuck in that rut I didn’t know how to train myself to use my energy more productively. The sad truth is, most people who are addicted to worry do NOT know how to use their mind to focus consistently in more positive ways. Worrying requires incredible creative skills and use our imagination to think of the WORST possible scenarios so our mind can spin on them.

Since the Law of Attraction ensures that we attract into our experiences whatever we give our attention, you can see that worrying attracts more things to fret and worry about.

Imagine being able to retrain yourself to harness your creative energy, and use it in an empowering way!

> What would you be creating more of, as a result?

> What would you be creating a lot less of?

> How would your life and business benefit?

Is WORRY your default energy or attitude? Share below what you have done to manage your energy better…

The Power of the Human Heart

Long time readers of this blog have read about the amazing research that the HeartMath Institute in Boulder Creek, CA has been doing on the human heart. HeartMath LLC began this research to better understand how to reduce or eliminate stress, which can be detrimental to the heart, with their patented emWave device and software. Since then, additional research, including information obtained from satellites, have really shown the power of the human heart.

The HeartMath Institute discovered that the human heart generates the strongest electro-magnetic field in the body, far greater than the brain–approximately 100 times more powerful electrically, and up to 5,000 times more powerful magnetically! Scientists already knew that atoms can be altered if the electrical or magnetic field surrounding them changes, so realizing the heart is capable of doing BOTH makes you realize how powerful the human heart truly is!
So, knowing about this research, I was not really surprised by this story shared recently on Facebook:
http://is.gd/eZPMu
Heck, if the collective electro-magnetic field of humanity can affect the electro-magnetic field of the earth, then it makes sense that the powerful emotions a mother and father feel at birth could surround their baby in a powerful life-resuscitating electro-magnetic field.
What’s even more interesting for Law of Attraction students is that this couple had accepted the loss of their baby, yet still allowed themselves to feel their feelings of love, and talk to him of his healthy sister. They surrendered to the situation at hand and kept their hearts open.
The next time you have a desire, remember this family and try surrendering while keeping your heart open!

Heck, if the collective electro-magnetic field of humanity can affect the electro-magnetic field of the earth, then it makes sense that the powerful hormone-driven emotions a mother and father feel at birth could surround their baby in a powerful life-resuscitating electro-magnetic field.

What’s even more interesting for Law of Attraction students, is the way in which this experience came about: The mother and father had accepted the devastating loss of their baby, and chose to spend the precious time they had left appreciating him. Although saddened, they allowed themselves to be in the moment and to fully feel their feelings of love, and talk to him of his healthy sister and all that they had planned to do with him. They surrendered to the situation at hand while keeping their hearts open.

Who can really say if this situation would have turned out the same had the parents decided  to *try* to bring the baby back to life? Perhaps with such a hefty-agenda, the emotional release, surrender and open-heartedness may not have been in place.

The next time you have a desire, remember this family and try letting go… be in the moment, and surrender to the possibilities while keeping your heart open.

Creative Discipline Is A Recipe for Success

Recently, I got thinking about the power of discipline on the creative mind. I had been watching the movie, Julie & Julia, on DVD.
The creativity of the human mind knows no boundaries, and therein lies the paradox: Without something to reign in, focus and channel creativity, it tends to float aimlessly. While creative-types (including myself) will complain about the limitations put upon us, the truth is that without those limitations deadlines often aren’t met. Deadlines being one of the limitations set upon us.
Talk to any creative artist who has set about a project with no creative or time boundaries, and chances are very good you are talking to someone who has not even come close to completing said project. It could go on indefinitely…without direction or focus.
For the few who haven’t seen the movie, this is the one based on two true stories~that of Julia Child before she wrote her now-famous book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and that of about the young gal (Julie Powell) who loved cooking and saw it as a nightly refuge from her difficult day job. These two stories have some parallels, which deepen when Julie decides to tackle Julia Child’s recipes in year and blog about the process. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_child#Films )
At the beginning of the movie, Julie Powell is wallowing in a dead-end job and questioning what she’s done with her life, feeling lost at sea. For this heroine, the act of focusing on her passion (cooking), giving it structure (completing 524 recipes in 365 days), and commiting to be accountable (blogging about it daily) created a recipe for success. Watching this movie I saw parallels with my own creativity and that of others.
During all the years that I worked solely as a self-employed commercial artist, my client specifications created the structure and the deadlines created the accountability. I prided myself in always meeting client deadlines~and often early~while exceeding the client’s expectations for the project-at-hand. Whether we like it or not, the creative mind thrives best with structure and accountability. Keep it up long enough, and it generates a creative discipline where creativity flourishes under even the tightest constraints.
What does this have to do with you personally or with your business? All of us have something that requires creativity in our lives, and can benefit from this formula:
• Your Passion Find out what you truly love and focus on that. If you don’t know your passion, be wiling to try different things until you find it. Julia Child tried hat making, learning bridge, studying French, until she came upon cooking and discovered it was her true passion.
• Structure What actions, related to your passion, are you willing to take on a regular basis? When I was working in mortgage lending in the 80s, I would come home from work each night, change my clothes, grab dinner and work on my acrylic paintings for 2-3 hours. I was happy to commit to this schedule because it was my passion at the time.
• Committed Accountability How can you be accountable? If clients aren’t involved, find a buddy, a coach or a Quantum MasterMind that gives you the support and place to share the successes and frustrations.
Julia Child’s efforts did not go unnoticed. Her book is considered a masterpiece, and it launched her teaching and television career. Julie Powell’s efforts did not go unnoticed, either. By the end of her year-long journey, she caught the attention of the NY Times, got a book deal and ~as we all now know~ a movie deal, and is now working as a published professional writer.

Recently, I got thinking all about the power of discipline on the creative mind. What started me on this odyssey of creative thought, you ask? I had just finished watching the movie, Julie & Julia, on DVD.

The creativity of the human mind knows no boundaries, and therein lies the paradox: Without something to reign in, focus and channel that creativity, it tends to float aimlessly. While creative-types (including myself) will complain about the limitations thrust upon them, the truth is that without those limitations nothing gets accomplished and deadlines often aren’t met. Deadlines as in results, are also one of the aforementioned limitations.

Talk to any creative artist who has set about a project with no creative or time boundaries, and chances are very good you are talking to someone who has not even come close to completing said project. Such projects could go on indefinitely, growing in scope and essence… without direction or focus.

Trust me, I know this truth first-hand.

For the few who haven’t seen the movie, this is the one based on two true stories~that of Julia Child before she wrote her now-famous book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and that of the soon-to-be-30 Julie Powell, who loved cooking and saw it as a nightly refuge from her difficult day job. These two stories have some parallels, which deepen when Julie decides to tackle Julia Child’s recipes in one year and blog about the process.

At the beginning of the movie, Julie Powell is wallowing in a dead-end job and questioning what she’s done with her life, feeling lost at sea. I prided myself in always meeting client deadlines~and often early~while exceeding the client’s expectations for the project-at-hand. As a result, I was prolific in this work.

However, when there wasn’t client work it was easy to flounder, if I didn’t deliberately create some structure and accountability of my own.

Whether we like it or not, the creative mind thrives best with structure and accountability. Keep it up long enough, and it generates a creative discipline where creativity flourishes under even the tightest constraints.

What does this have to do with you personally or with your business? All of us have something that requires creativity in our lives and/or business, and can benefit from this formula:

If you’ve been feeling lost as sea, unable to find the shore with your creative work, look to see if your work contains the passion, structure and accountability. If not, try establishing some and see if it brings you safely back to shore.
