Getting Out of the “How” Business

how - letting go[This article was previously published on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

Recently, I have written about embracing change, the power of decision, and believing in what’s possible as tools for creating powerful positive change in your life. Once you open the door to possibilities, your intuitive guidance will begin to show you options. Here is when it is critical to move past the next trap: Wanting to control “how” everything manifests.

Paralyzed by the need to control or see exactly how their wish will materialize, many folks cease taking any action. They need to know exactly how, from start to finish, they will accomplish their goal. The lack of knowing how becomes an excuse never to even begin taking action toward their desired goal. Since a clear solution does not seem available, or viable, they then conclude that their goal is simply not possible. Many goals die a quiet death in this trap.

The truth is “how” your goal manifests is not up to you…at all. That’s the job of the Universe that is orchestrating all beyond your comprehension. It’s your job to sift through all your experiences to decide what it is you really want to experience, and which of those you are really going to pursue, put yourself into the feeling of it as if it’s already manifested…AND LET GO! ‘How’ it comes about is truly the “domain of the Universe” as Mike Dooley says in the original version of The Secret DVD.

In fact, failure to let go sets us up for a vicious cycle. The more we worry about, and try to control, “how” our desires manifest, the more we are adding to the very resistance that keeps those goals at bay. Then, with proof that nothing is working, you have yet another excuse to conclude that the goal was an impossible dream.

If you’ve decided to become a conscious creator, you need to get out of the ‘how’ business. When we let go of the need to control exactly how our desires show up, we release the self-imposed limits on the possible ways our desires can manifest. As humans beings, we have a limited view of what can be accomplished, always based on what we are aware of that has already been done. Getting away from the need to know how is what is meant by “getting out of your own way”.

There’s no question that we DO benefit from pure, positive passion on your way to experience your desired goal, and the persistence to stay focused on the outcome regardless of any naysayers. That said, sometimes the very passion that drives us can cause us to want to know “how”. Successful people the world over know that you do not need to know “how” you will accomplish your goal in order to succeed. They realize that passion for the outcome and trust in the process are the big keys to successful conscious creating.

Jerry Hicks tells a story of how he and Esther had decided they wanted to take the Abraham materials to a wider audience. They happily told others about this, and when people asked how they were going to do it, they just said something to the effect of, “We don’t know right now, but we know the way will be shown.” Then, out of the (seeming) blue, Wayne Dyer and Christiane Northrup, M.D. contacted them to say how much they loved their materials and asking how they could help. Other notable authors and media people stepped forward to do the same. Louise Hay offered to publish their books to a wider audience. They were contacted by Rhonda Byrne to make The Secret movie (original version), which led to them creating their own movies and participating in Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life. Along the way, Oprah called to interview them on her XM 156 Radio show.

All this happened for them because they put their desire out to the listening Universe and spent no time trying to second-guess the energy that creates worlds. They got out of their own way. Esther and Jerry considered what they wanted, focused on that, and trusted that it would show up for them…and it did! You wouldn’t know about all of their books, movies, or YouTube videos if this hadn’t happened for them.

The “Needing-to-Know-How” Addiction
Some people have been demanding to know how for so long that they’ve become addicted to needing to know, not to mention tallying up failures of past goals that never saw the light of day.

The addiction to knowing coupled with the lack of knowing keeps them stuck, in a perpetual (and emotionally exhausting) tug of war.

At the root of needing to know how your goal will manifest is a lack of trust in the energy that creates worlds, the one single source of all we perceive as humans: The Universal Energy field, sometimes known as Source Energy, Divine Source, All that Is, or God. Quantum Physicists have identified this energy field that permeates everything that we perceive with our senses, and have determined that this field of energy responds to and is affected by our thoughts and feelings.

Quantum Physicist Fred Alan Wolfe, PhD in the movie, The Secret, said,“Quantum Physics really begins to point to this discovery. It says that you can’t have the Universe without the mind entering into it.” He goes on to explain, The mind is actually shaping the very thing that is being perceived. Experiments with particles have shown them responding as soon as particles are being observed.

Whether you view this ever-present energy field in a religious, spiritual, or a scientific way, the fact still remains: The energy that permeates all things in the universe is constantly responding to our thoughts and feelings. If you trust this, then you will find it easier to let go of the ‘how’ and let this energy source assist you. It will respond to your trust by providing your deepest heart-felt desires.

If you do not trust this source, by virtue of your lack of trust, it will reflect back to you proof that you cannot trust it. The Law of Attraction ensures that whatever we believe is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Practice Shifting and Cultivating
So, what do you do if you are addicted to needing to know ‘how’ before you proceed? Start by practicing shifting your thinking and attitudes, and cultivate trust.

• Cultivating trust is like building muscles. Develop your trust muscle so you can easily imagine yourself living the outcome you desire. Spend a few minutes each day practicing— visualizing (see, feel, know) yourself living the outcome of the goal and noticing how it feels for you.

For example, if you want a good parking spot, imagine yourself driving to the location, finding the perfect spot and pulling right in without waiting.

Notice how you feel when you are visualizing (seeing, feeling, knowing) this. Feel yourself physically there in your visualization. Then, let it go and continue with your day. Resist the temptation to get into too much mental detail because that will lead you to ask ‘how’. Instead, focus on the feeling you want and are expecting to experience. Abraham refers to this technique as pre-paving a future experience. As you find yourself stepping into a future that matches your visualization (seeing, feeling, knowing), you know it’s not a coincidence.

• Start with smaller goals until you begin to trust that Universal Energy is constantly responding to meet your requests. We tend to be less attached to emotionally to smaller goals, so use that to it’s advantage if you are just starting out. As your trust deepens, you will find it easier to begin visualizing and feeling the outcome of much larger goals. Soon, you will find yourself trusting and knowing that everything you desire will manifest for you quickly and efficiently.

• Release emotional attachment to the outcome. I realize that the more emotionally attached we are to a certain outcome, the harder it can be to let go and trust. However, if you channel that emotion away from attachment and toward your visualization, you’ll notice something remarkable. The more emotion invested in the visualization, rather than the attachment, the more you will feel as if you are already living the desire you seek.

At that point, it’s only a matter of time for it to manifest. The creation process is well underway, and ironically, you are likely to feel less attached to the final outcome because you already have the satisfaction of feeling as if you are living that reality. And that makes you, and your goal, very attractive!

Feel the Outcome as Reality
How to do this? Let me share a personal experience from my own business.

One day I realized that a client had not paid a large project invoice by the milestone date. I called their accounting department to find out when payment would be made and was told they would “pay it when they got around to paying it.” I was incensed that this client corporation had me working around the clock and was extremely demanding, but was unwilling to pay their invoices on time. Soon, I found myself arguing with their Accounts Payable rep and heard my inner voice say, “Stop. Arguing is not helping.” I forced myself to end the conversation and hang up the phone, and needless to say—I was not in a very good mood!

Realizing that my energy was so negative that I would only attract similar energy by staying there, I immediately left my office. I sought out my kitty cat who always soothed me and lifted my energy. As I petted my kitty, I felt my heart warm and completely forget why I was mad in the first place. I stayed in that loving energy for a while, as it felt so good, and then began to think about the ideal outcome for the situation. All drama aside, the ideal outcome was to have possession of the client payment and deposit it into the bank.

So, I imagined myself holding the check, walking into the bank to make the deposit. I stayed with that visualization until it felt real to me. Then, I went back to petting my sweet kitty who was soaking up all the love.

Eventually, I made it back into my office and went back to work. I had let go of the outcome and trusted that what I visualized would show up. About three hours later, I received a call that the check was in the company’s lobby for me to pick up. It was not long before I was holding that check, walking into my bank to make the deposit just as I had visualized a few hours before!!!

Was it totally easy for me to get out of the “how” and shift my anger toward more productive visualization? It is easier now than it would have been 10 years ago, but it wasn’t totally easy, and frankly I needed the help of my furry friend to truly shift my energy to a higher vibration. (Furry friends are one of our greatest gifts!)

Could I have gotten there on my own? Probably, but not as quickly. If a kitty wasn’t present, I could have turned on some good music and danced, or put my attention on someone who always lifts my spirits. While it wasn’t easy, it was doable…and the more I do it, the easier it becomes.

In my example above, as I stepped out of the ‘how’ and focused on the outcome I desired, I gave the universe permission to fulfill my request in the fastest, most efficient way possible. I was then free to follow intuitve guidance. Jack Canfield has equated this to driving from NY to California at night with your headlights on, seeing only 200 feet ahead of you at any time, trusting that the road will take you to your final destination.

Your Body Compass

Body Compass

Have you heard the term ‘Body Compass’ and do you know how it can help you every day?

After sharing my blog post about the incredible power of decision, I received a bunch of emails and messages from people saying that they find it hard to know which decision is right for them. While many liked the idea of following what feels better, the question remained: “How do you know when every choice feels both good and bad?”

I’ve briefly mentioned the Body Compass before, but it makes sense to devote an entire post to this topic.

In our heavily plugged-in lives, constantly on the computer, or our phone, juggling virtual and real-life deadlines, dramas, and details, we’ve become increasingly disconnected from our bodies. We need a way to navigate the world than electronics can provide.

Thirty years ago, I would have made most of my difficult decisions by making a pros/cons list. Since then, I discovered the power of the Body Compass to guide me in making good decisions in even the most difficult situations.

What is the ‘Body Compass’ ?

Just as a magnetic compass can help us navigate the globe, the Body Compass uses the human body to guide decision-making and receive guidance. Our bodies are an amazing collection of energetic sensors which are always providing us with feedback. These sensors are so fine tuned, work well together, and these sensors let us know what matters to us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Like any tool, you have to know you have it AND how to use it, to reap the benefit.

5 Steps to Tap Into Your Own Body Compass

Here are 5 steps to become receptive to and use the information from your Body Compass:

  1. BREATHE, slow down, and relax – Take 3 deep breaths. Be still. Get out into nature. Put your bare feet on the ground. Release the mental snowballs. If you must remain inside, step away from the electronics. Go get a drink of water, walk around a moment, or take a bathroom break. We think much better and can connect with our Body Compass when we are not mired in the stress. First, we have to release any stress in our system.
  2. Get into heart coherence – After your cleansing deep breaths, lower your head as if you are looking at your own heart while putting your hand on your heart. This is a quick action that puts your heart into a coherent state which then signals your organs to function in harmony with each other. (If you want to know more about Heart Coherence, visit the HeartMath Institute’s site.)
  3. Bring your question to mind – Some find it helpful to write the question on paper first, so that they can look at the question anew once they are in a more relaxed state. Don’t try to ‘think’. Just be aware of your question, and move to the next step.
  4. Notice what sensations or feelings show up in your body along with thoughts – For instance, you might feel tightness around your gut / solar plexus at the same time you have a memory flash in your mind. There’s a connection between the sensation and the thoughts/memories that arise. You might experience an emotional release, such as crying, sighing, yawning, coughing, sneezing. Let it happen, and see what awareness you have afterward.
  5. Use the information that surfaces to show you what feels best – Often one option will feel slightly better, if not much better, than the others. Sometimes one idea feels lighter in the body, than the other. Choose the best, lightest feeling option.

You might have to practice feeling your body from the inside-out.Many of us have been socialized to only feel what happens to the outside of our bodies (scrapes, cuts, bruises), not what’s going on inside, especially if it’s emotional. When you are willing to slow down and really feel your body from the inside, you’ll start to notice all kinds of sensations.

There are several ways to practice. Meditation can help you become aware of your body while it is still, and relatively relaxed.

You can also practice scanning your body as you fall asleep at night…or just as you wake up. Let your awareness scan your body from the top of your head to the soles of your feet, and back up to the crown of your head. Notice what you feel and what thoughts arise.

The other day, I used my Body Compass to see where I was creating unnecessary drama and frustration. As I looked at my To-Do list that day, suddenly 5 items seemed very urgent. Drop-what-you-are-doing-urgent. Not only that, they each had specific requirements, so they needed to be done in a specific order, which made each more complicated. I found myself being paralyzed with the feeling of urgency, and then came the indecision. No matter how I looked at these 5 items, they needed to be done and they were getting in each others way!

Fortunately, the indecision reminded me of my Body Compass. (See? Contrast has its blessings!) I got quiet, centered, and heart-coherent. I looked at each item on my list, and noticed how my body felt. In a flash, I suddenly realized that *I* was the only person claiming that three of these tasks were ‘urgent’. In that realization, it became crystal clear that a few things didn’t even need to be done…at all! Ever. Unless I wanted to do them. They were options, but I had turned them into ‘shoulds’.

I let out a big sigh. I immediately felt the stress drain away from the dilemma, and my next course of action was clear: The other two items didn’t need to happen TODAY. They could easily be done the next day. What a relief! What seemed like an urgent quagmire had quickly become easy and doable.

Once you learn to understand your Body Compass and use it regularly, you’ll find it one of the most helpful tools for growing a thriving business. It’s always with you, and it’s free. You just have to CHOOSE to remember it and use it!

Your turn…Are you ready to start putting your Body Compass to work for you? If you already do, what experiences have you had with your Body Compass? Share your insights below.

WTF?

WTF - What's The Feeling?

When I am working with clients who are distressed about not experiencing what they prefer, it’s relatively easy for me to see what’s going on because I am not emotionally caught up in the experience. (This is just one of the reasons we all benefit from working with teachers, mentors, and/or coaches…they can help us see and navigate issues that we are too close to emotionally.)

First thing you have to remember is that: When there is emotional discord, it is a signal that what we are thinking is discordant with the goal we have in mind.

Caught in the emotional web, we often cannot see where we are creating discord in our thoughts and feelings. As Einstein said, you cannot solve a problem with the same energy that created the problem. Quantum Physicists say that when two or more vibrations match up, they are “coherent”. Coherent energy is the opposite of discordant or incoherent energy. The energy of the problem and the energy of the solution are discordant, not coherent.

In order to solve your problem, you must get into vibrational coherence with the energy of the solution. Here is a quick tip for those discordant moments when you want to release the negative energy get back on track with positive energy. I call this tip: WTF? It is a reminder to ask the question: What’s The Feeling? Yeah, I bet that’s not what you thought it meant. 😉

Step 1:  Take out a piece of paper. Draw a line sideways on the paper half-way down to break it into two sections. At the top of both sections, write: WTF?

Step 2: In the top section, write down how you are currently feeling...dump all the raw emotions inside of you out onto this piece of paper. As soon as you begin to acknowledge how you are truly feeling you are in a better position to release that energy.

Step 3:
On the bottom half of the paper, answer the question: What’s the Feeling of my preferred outcome? Usually, we only want to experience something because we think it will feel better than what we are currently feeling. So, tap into the feeling you anticipate that your preferred outcome will evoke in you. Immerse yourself in what that would look, sound, and feel like to you and write that down.

Step 4: Compare the feelings from the top and bottom sections. If you are feeling unhappy, it is because you want the feeling in the bottom section but you are stuck in the feeling of the top section. Now you can clearly see WHY you are feeling discordant: too much of your attention has been focused where you don’t want it and not enough has been on the feelings that you want to evoke.

Step 5: It’s time to let go of the energy that is creating the discord: tear or cut off the top part of the paper and dispose of it (crumple it up, burn it in a safe container, or throw it out).

Step 6: Refocus your energy. With the bottom half of the paper remaining, ask yourself how you can begin feeling more the way you know you want to feel. If an answer comes immediately, do it. If it doesn’t, trust that the answer will show up and you will be ready for it when it does! One idea: use the list of feelings that are coherent with your desire(s) to create your own powerful customized affirmations.

As you focus your attention MORE on the feeling you desire, you move yourself vibrationally into coherence with that desire. Your emotions are an indicator of where you are focusing your thoughts and feelings. They are truly a divine gift to help you see where you need to get into vibrational coherence.

I am inviting you to begin asking yourself this question, all day, every day. This could quite possibly the most important question you can ask yourself throughout the day: WTF? = What’s The Feeling? What am I feeling right now? What feeling is closest to what I want to experience? What can I do to focus on the feeling I want to evoke?

Now you have a new meaning for WTF…one that can help you get back on track vibrationally. Share below your comments and suggestions for getting into coherent feelings.

Manifesting Moods

Manifesting Moods

What do you think about when you think about ‘moods’? When I think of that word, I usually think about the negative ones, but in The Law and the Promise, mid-20th Century author and speaker Neville Goddard wrote eloquently about consciously using POSITIVE MOODS to actually *invite* positive outcomes.

In chapter 7, Neville writes…

Men regard their moods far too much as effects and not sufficiently as causes.

Moods are imaginal activities without which no creation is possible.

We say that we are happy because we have achieved our goal; we do not realize that the process works equally well in the reverse direction — that we shall achieve our goal because we have assumed the happy feeling of the wish fulfilled.

Think about that for a moment: by consciously choosing to feel GOOD, you are activating your imagination to create positive shifts. LOA enthusiasts will immediately recognize this truth, but how many of us have understood it from the term “moods”? You may recognize the term “wish fulfilled” from one of Wayne Dyer’s recent books. Dr. Dyer was reinterpreting Neville’s teachings.

If you have ever watched The Dog Whisperer or Leader of the Pack with Cesar Milan, you’ve seen him INDUCE a positive mental attitude in dogs simply by changing the dog’s physical position. By forcing a dog to lay down, the dog’s body begins to naturally relax and as the body relaxes, so does the mind. By experiencing a different physical posture, the dog is able to find peace of mind.

The principal which Neville writes about is very similar concept, but using imaginal moods ~ moods conjured in the imagination ~ versus physical postures.

In The Law and The Promise, Neville shares this inspiring story which is well worth repeating. Read it and see where you might apply this suggestion in your life:

The lady in the following story so successfully felt the feeling of her wish fulfilled, she made her mood the character of the night — frozen in a delightful dream.

“Most of us read and love fairy stories, but we all know that stories of improbable riches and good fortune are for the delight of the very young. But are they? I want to tell you of something unbelievably wonderful that happened to me through the power of my imagination — and I am not ‘young’ in years.

We live in an age which believes in neither fable nor magic, and yet everything I could possibly want in my wildest day-dreams was given to me by the simple use of what you teach — that ‘imagining creates reality’ and that ‘feeling’ is the secret of imagining.

“At the time this wonderful thing happened to me I was out of a job and had no family to fall back upon for support. I needed just about everything. To find a decent job I needed a car to look for it, and though I had a car, it was so worn out it was ready to fall apart. I was behind in my rent; I had no proper clothes to seek a job; and today it’s no fun for a woman of fifty-five to apply for a job of any kind. My bank account was almost depleted and there was no friend to whom I could turn.

“But I had been attending your lectures for almost a year and my desperation forced me to put my imagination to the test. Indeed, I had nothing to lose. It was natural for me, I suppose, to begin by imagining myself having everything I needed. But I needed so many things and in such short order that I found myself exhausted when I finally got through the list, and by that time I was so nervous I could not sleep. One lecture night I heard you tell of an artist who captured the ‘feeling’, or ‘word’, as you called it, of ‘isn’t it wonderful!’ in his personal experience.

“I began to apply this idea to my case. Instead of thinking of and imagining every article I needed, I tried to capture the ‘feeling’ that something wonderful was happening to me — not tomorrow, not next week — but right now.

I would say over and over to myself as I fell asleep, ‘Isn’t it wonderful! Something marvelous is happening to me now!’ And as I fell asleep I would feel the way I would expect to feel under such circumstances.

“I repeated that imaginary action and feeling for two months, night after night, and one day in early October I met a casual friend I hadn’t seen for months who informed me he was about to leave on a trip to New York. I had lived in New York many years ago and we talked of the city a few moments and then parted. I completely forgot the incident. One month later, to the day, this man called at my apartment and simply handed me a Certified Check in my name for twenty-five hundred dollars. After I got over the initial shock of seeing my name on a check for so much money, the story that unfolded seemed to me like a dream. It concerned a friend I had not seen nor heard from in more than twenty-five years. This friend of my past, I now learned, had become extremely wealthy in those twenty-five years. Our mutual acquaintance who had brought the check to me had met him quite by accident during the trip to New York last month. During their conversation they spoke of me, and for reasons I was not to know (for to this day I have not heard from him personally and have never attempted to contact him) this old friend decided to share a portion of his great wealth with me.

“For the next two years, from the office of his attorney, I received monthly checks so generous in amount they not only covered every necessary requirement of daily living, but left much over for all the lovely things of life: a car, clothes, a spacious apartment — and best of all, no need to earn my daily bread.

“This past month I received a letter and some legal papers to be signed which provide the continuation of this monthly income for the rest of my natural life!” …T.K.

Have You Been Stoking the ‘Need’?

Are you Stoking the NEEDYears ago, I knew someone who used to call me every few hours insisting that she ‘needed me’ to solve the crisis-of-the-moment. In reality, none of these crises actually existed, except in this person’s mind. Despite being fully capable of handling these crises herself, she had convinced herself that I was the *only* person who could help.

Initially, I spent copious time patiently reassuring her and answering her same questions over and over and over. Talking to her positively, encouraging her to see the bigger picture. Meanwhile, I kept wondering WHY this particular person constantly  calling with dramatic stories of needing rescue.

Then, it dawned on me.

This was a common pattern for this gal. Despite being fully qualified in many ways, she had convinced herself that she wasn’t…and that she needed others to rescue her…everyday! She was clearly carrying a story around that must have been something like:

OH, NO…I don’t think I can handle this. This is too hard! I’m not capable or smart enough to figure this out. I don’t want to be alone with this [fill in the blank problem] because there’s NO WAY I can figure it out myself. Someone else has to help me! OMG – HELP! CRISIS! DISASTER LOOMS…HELP…HELP!!!

While she unconsciously stoked the feelings of urgency, crisis, lack and ‘need’ within herself,  it was manifesting in her outer world…or, rather it appeared to her as manifesting. To me, she seemed to be anticipating problems more than actually experiencing them. Law of Attraction was lining her up with experiences that would make her right.  How we show up in the world reflects our self-talk and deepest inner beliefs.

As I type this, and reflect back on this time in my life, this person was also a mirror for me to see my own ‘need to rescue’. Since like vibrations cohere, Law of Attraction was responding to my need by lining me up with someone who needed to be rescued.

In the beginning, I was happy to be of assistance. But over time, it was no longer fun for me to interact with this friend only in this way. In fact, it was downright exhausting and it was not a functional friendship since I was only called to put out fires, not to relate as a friend.

Do you recognize yourself in either of these examples?

If you like this experience, by all means, keep creating it! If you don’t then in order for Law of Attraction to deliver something different, you have to be willing to shift your energy. That sounds tricky, but it’s not as difficult as you might think.

First, start telling a different story. Even if it’s just a softer version of the story you’ve been telling yourself, begin anew. This friend might have started by shifting her self-talk to something like, I usually like to have help, but I am a capable adult…I wonder how much of this I can resolve on my own. If I can’t figure it out by [date], then I will ask around. Then, taking any actions that she felt guided to take that aligned with the new story.

If telling the new story feels too hard, or brings up lower energies of fear, worry, and doubt, it can be helpful to use a tool like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to address those feelings and begin to clear them before you start telling a new story.

The new story I actually told myself to shift out of this experience was I appreciate and cultivate healthy, functional friendships with kind people who are capable and helpful. Abraham has said, when we shift our own energy, our experience must shift in response. In fact, other people may meet us in the new vibration, or they may vibrate right out of our experience. In this particular situation, the person seemed to magically stop calling me, and eventually we lost touch. As I let go of the ‘need to rescue’, this person may have lost the need for help or may have connected with someone else who ‘needed to rescue’.

Second, remember times in your past when you exhibited capability. Chances are, you have many, but may not give them much mental attention. Change that now…close your eyes, remember those times, and feel how it feels in your body. Remember this feeling so you can call it up when feeling capable is desired.

Third, look without attachment for evidence that your new story is materializing. In other words, release attachment but allow the evidence to reveal itself to you.

Finally, practice. The next time you are feeling needy, remember this is a golden opportunity to practice a new vibration. Practice makes perfect, so remember the new story and implement it. Call up the memories from the past, and remember the evidence all around you.

Letting Go of the Struggle with Affirmations

Personally, I’ve had such GREAT experiences with affirmations that it always SHOCKS me when I hear people saying things like…

Affirmations never work

I hate affirmations

Affirmations are pointless

and the most unbelievable one:
Take a pile of crap, put frosting on top of it…that’s what affirmations are

Yes, I’ve heard every one of those at some point and it always makes me think ….?!? WHAT ?!?

affirmationsHow is it possible that I have such great experiences with affirmations and so many others struggle with it? First, when people affirm regularly that something WON’T WORK for THEM ~ by the Law of Attraction it will never work FOR THEM! Second, I know HOW to create powerful customized affirmations so I do not struggle with affirmations ~ I know they work and I know they are very much worth the effort!

I realized it was time to work with some folks who didn’t believe in the power of affirmations, coach them, show them how to let go of the struggle, and have them talk about their experience.

So, I turned to the great community at Good Vibe University ~ asking who was ready to let go of their struggle with affirmations. Knowing that coaching is helpful for folks who are really struggling, and knowing that the ones who NEED the coaching the most are often the ones affirming that they cannot afford coaching, I decided to donate the coaching for up to five volunteers. Once five volunteers (Sophie, Mitch, Cheryl, Julie and Melissa) had come forward, I sent them to my site to do the free Six Steps to Powerful Affirmations eCourse. From there, I scheduled coaching sessions, and scheduled the call for GVU.

Now, you get to listen in on the conversation where the five volunteers share their answers to these questions:

• What what was your experience with affirmations before?

• What was affirmation coaching like for you? Was it helpful?

• How have the last several weeks been since the affirmation coaching?
• What has changed?

• What advice would do you have now to folks who struggle with affirmations?

Yes, You ARE a Master Manifestor!

Through the course of working with small business owners with Quantum MasterMind for Solopreneurs and coaching individuals, most of the clients struggle to get to the place where they can imagine RECEIVING what they are asking for. Many struggle to believe that it’s possible to have what they want. They do not see themselves as powerful manifestors.

Of course, they usually have a non-supportive story in their head that goes something like this…

“OMG, this is really BIG! I really WANT this to happen, but I just don’t know how to create it! How can I possibly bring it into my life IF I don’t know how to make it happen? Maybe this is too big for me. Maybe it just isn’t possible…”

Seriously, with that kind of story going on, who could expect to receive what they want? One of the keys to receiving what you ask for is to practice FEELING AS-IF you are already living your new desire. Doing so conditions the mind to be open to the experience, and then you notice those opportunities all around you. This is how you begin deliberately molding consciousness into reality.

The Law of Attraction is always lining you up with experiences that match your dominant vibration. So, when you vibrate at the place of…I just don’t know how to create it…I don’t know how to make it happen…this is too big for me…it just isn’t possible, take a wild guess what you’ll experience?

One day, I was thinking about how I could help my clients overcome their block to receiving while sitting on my couch with my legs up on the ottoman. My kitties, sensing an opportune moment for being loved, immediately commenced pinning me down. Louise got in her usual spot on my lap and began purring loudly. Thelma then cuddled herself closely to my left, effectively wedging me into the corner of the couch. Amidst this abundance of purring fur, which always evokes an avalanche of loving feelings, I began recalling how these elderly kitties had come into my life: I intended it.

I intended that when it was time to adopt a new kitty, the next one would love to lie in my lap and be petted, would have long hair and be beautiful, would not claw me, and would be very well socialized. I intended being open for two cats, and if I did get two cats, they would get along very well. Where I live, only indoor cats are allowed so I knew it would have to be a cat who was happy being indoors. Then, I let it go. In fact, I recall it was a weekend and I took an afternoon nap.

Notice that I set forth an idea of what I wanted to experience, imagined how that would *feel*, and then let it go. I didn’t judge my current experience, I just put my mind on what would be great, imagined some of the details that would make me happy (long fur, not being clawed, possibly 2, both kitties getting along, etc.), and let it go. By letting go, I mean that I trusted that when the time was right, it would all come together.

Almost a month-to-the-day after setting this intention, I was unexpectedly in a position to adopt when my previous cat died. That same day, I found Thelma and Louise: Two older (calmer) sister kitties who were long-haired, declawed, and were gorgeous. They had to be indoors because they were de-clawed, and it’s clear they *like* being indoors.  Louise looked like a cat who had previously owned me and purrs like a motorboat, so I took first to her. However, Thelma soon won me over with her amazingly loving and human-like personality.

Just thinking about how I had intended something very specific, then GOT IT, made me begin to look at other experiences I had intended and they came to pass. There were many! In fact, the more I recalled, the more there was to recall. Suddenly, it dawned on me that probably MOST people have many experiences they recall desiring and then they experienced them at some point. I bet you have MANY experiences you can recall that will get you into the feeling place of RECEIVING!

Recalling those times in your life when you decided that you wanted an experience, and then did, is a fantastic way to:

1. Remind yourself of all the times you have had an intention and then lived it, and…

2. Remember the FEELING of RECEIVING what you’ve asked for so you can practice feeling it often!

Take a moment to recall those times you’ve asked or intended for an experience, and the Universe provided it. Remember the feeling of getting it? Hold that feeling in your heart and allow yourself to really FEEL it. Practice that feeling as often as possible.

If you do this, it is doubtful you will question your ability to receive what you ask for. However, if the question does come up, you will quickly be able to recall and FEEL the memory of asking and receiving!

Can’t recall anything worthy of  a Master Manifestor? Start with your BODY! The fact that you are alive and that you manifested something that cannot even be created by other humans nor the components bought to build a body means you are a Master Manifestor.
