The magical power of anger

That’s right: magical! There’s magic in our ability to transmute our anger, not just for our business but for all aspects of our lives.

Personally, I don’t know any business owner who doesn’t, at least occasionally, experience anger in running their business. One of the hot spots are tricky experiences with vendors.

Ideally, vendors support you in your business so you can fully support your clients and customers with ease. You rely on your vendors, and they become part of what makes you and your business successful.

In worst case scenarios, though, difficult vendor experiences can actually harm or derail your businesses. I don’t need to list the potential difficulties for you…and we don’t need to dwell there, either.

In your anger and frustration with the situation, your instincts might have you making rash decisions you’ll regret and send you scrambling to find alternative providers.

LOA savvy business owners know that is a trap: ‘what we resist, persists’.

Any action you take will reflect the energy with which it was taken. The angry journey reveals an angry result.

If you don’t clean up the anger with one vendor, you’ll just experience similar energy with the next, and the next, and the next. Worse case, that anger will seep into other aspects of your business and cultivate more resentment.

However, when you embrace the magical power within your emotions, you’ll gain understanding of your limiting beliefs, and get clues to resolving not only the current issue, but any future issue, as well!

Navigate tricky vendor relations

The most reliable, and sustainable way, to manage difficult vendor relations is by understanding the energy of your emotions and the magic that is within.

This past week, I was pondering various topics to write for my next blog post, and then I received a gift of an intensely frustrating vendor experience. Don’t you just love when your real-life business hands you such opportunities?

OK, for some of you, that sounds like a ‘trick question’. It’s really not! Aware and savvy business owners learn how to manage their energy and transmute the difficult experiences into growth opportunities.

Now, I don’t go out of my way to seek anger, but over the years I’ve learned about that it’s worth my energy and attention to transmute the anger. Below is yesterday’s story broken down into the steps that helped me do exactly that: Transmute the anger into magic!

The time it takes to work through these steps will depend on your situation, and how long you’ve been practicing these skills.

STEP ONE: FEEL IT, FULLY

When you notice you are angry, give yourself a moment to really feel it in your body. This serves three purposes: 1.) Increases your awareness of your own emotions, 2.) Allows the limiting beliefs and stories (which hold the emotion in place) to surface, and 3.) This is the starting place for transmuting the emotion.

Feel the emotion doesn’t mean dwell there. Or stop there. Or let it derail you. It means allow yourself to feel what you really feel, including all levels of anger and sadness, before you continue with your inner work. Without giving yourself a few minutes to really feel your emotions, you might stuff them and the magical transmutation never has a chance to start.

So, here’s how I applied this step. Late on Monday, I became aware that a vendor had charged me for services I never requested for the second month in a row….and was only just finding out about it. It was too late in the evening to do anything, so I decided to deal with it on Tuesday.

I was so angry about it that when Tuesday morning rolled around, I was ready to fire them on the spot, and see if they had broken industry regulations by not notifying me sooner. The anger in me was so intense that I felt vengeful. I kept wanting to pick up the phone to chew someone’s face off. But each time I started to dial the number, I realized my energy was too intense and I needed to step back before going any further.

STEP TWO: NOTICE THE ‘STORY’

When we’re angry, odds are pretty high that we have a ‘story’ in place that made us angry and keeps us stuck there. In some cases, it’s not just one story, but several ‘stories’…past, present, and even future ones!

Once you’ve properly given yourself some time to feel the feeling, start noticing what story is playing in your head about this situation.

Admittedly, I was so angry yesterday, that I wasn’t able to do this after I became aware of my feelings. In fact, it wasn’t until after I ordered myself to calm down, that I eventually heard myself rehashing the ‘stories’ I had going on: They are really pissing me off! This is so wrong—I won’t let them get away with it! What makes them think they can take advantage of me? I’ve been a good client for them for years, I don’t deserve this! This cannot be legal…I should report them! What kind of slimy business are they running? How many other people are they abusing?

Spot the stories? I had already concluded that they had willingly wronged me and were doing it to others. Feeling victimized. Ready to get revenge! They were running a slimy operation.

Yeah, it was the last one that got my attention. Extremes often show up in ‘stories’ that keep us stuck in anger. In the past, I would have sat down and made a list of these crazy stories so I could address them, one-by-one, but having done this so often…I took mental note and quickly moved to step three.

STEP THREE: QUESTION THE ‘STORY’

Or (multiple) stories. Question them. In my case, I did The Work: Is this really true? Can I absolutely be sure this is true? How do I feel when I think this thought? How would I feel if I didn’t have this story? Turn it around.

For me, the first story being questioned looked like this:
They are really pissing me off!

Is this really true? YES!

Can I absolutely be sure this is true? YES!

How do I feel when I think this thought? UGH! It makes me even angrier!

How would I feel if I didn’t have this thought? I might not be so angry, or I might not be angry at all. I might be calmer and thinking more clearly.

Turn it around: I am pissing them off!; I am pissing myself off!

Oh, yeah…there it is! Truth prevails.

As soon as I stated the second ‘turn around’, I immediately saw how I was the one who was creating my anger and I was blaming them for making me feel angry. No one can make me, or any of us, feel anything unless I/we give them the power to do so.

Just questioning the first story made it easy to de-escalate, and calm down. I started laughing at how I had frothed myself up in anger without having all the details or information. I was already feeling better as I sailed through questioning the other stories that propped up my anger.

STEP FOUR: LET AWARENESS BRING CLARITY

The transmutation was in process! Once I had calmed down, gained awareness by questioning my stories, it became really clear to me: When it came down to it, I didn’t have the full story. I was only seeing ‘my side’ and needed to communicate with the vendor to get the full story.

All I had was a statement showing that they had billed me for non-requested (and un-received) services, and I had allowed myself to stir up my own feelings of anger.

What do I really want to experience? I wanted to speak to the vendor to get the full story, to have my account corrected, and monies refunded.

I grabbed the statement and a piece of paper. At the top of the paper, I wrote the date, the vendor’s name and phone number. Under that, I wrote 3 words to describe how I wanted the situation to unfold:

Calm, Smooth, Easy.

Then, I wrote my objectives:

  • Ask about the statement.
  • Get the account corrected.
  • Get any refund, if applicable.

The magic was activated and ready to launch!

STEP FIVE: TAKE ACTION WITH CLEAN ENERGY

By now, I’ve felt my full emotion, noticed the stories, questioned them, and gotten clear on what I want to transpire and set my intentions. I felt so much calmer, relaxed, and at ease. Knowing that this was all going to work out, I picked up the phone and dialed the number. While it rang, I reminded myself: Calm. Smooth. Easy.

The first person I spoke to couldn’t answer any question and seemed confused. He was reflecting some of my earlier wonky energy. I knew it was time to get my energy clear: I silently re-affirmed Calm, Smooth, and Easy.

As soon as I did this, he transferred me to a second person. I re-explained the problem, and this second guy had answers for ALL my questions! His voice was pleasant and helpful as he pulled up my statement on his computer, saw the charges, then researched the requests which triggered the charges. In a calm and helpful tone, he saw the error (another client’s charges were showing up on my statement), and began apologizing.

“Let me fix this immediately. I am so sorry for this mix-up, and so glad you called!”

A computer error — that explained a lot! Immediately, in just a few minutes, he fixed the error, refunded monies automatically charged, corrected my balance due, asked if he could do anything more, and cheerfully wished me a good day.

Talk about a magical experience! I never had to raise my voice, and was easily able to remain calm during the entire encounter. The experience was smooth and easy, just as I had written down while I was getting clear on my preferred outcome. Doubt that would have been the case had I called earlier in the day when I was so angry!

STEP SIX: REST AND REVIEW

I was smiling when I got off the phone. I had been on quite the magical ’emotional journey’, going from vengeful white-hot angry to calm and satisfied, in just a few hours.

After taking a break, I came back to my office and took stock of what happened. (That’s when it became obvious that writing this post was the next step.) Take the time to learn from your experiences. If you could have done better, take note. If you did a good job, acknowledge yourself.

Without a doubt, I did a REEEAAAAALLLLY good job of feeling my feeling fully. (giggle) Although, it might have served me to notice the stories sooner. Giving myself some ‘space’ so I could, finally, notice the stories…essential to this whole process! So glad I didn’t take action when I was really angry. Very happy that I questioned the stories, and was able to laugh, before getting clear on what I really wanted. Making the call with clear energy and intentions completed the anger-to-magic transmutation.

Come to think of it, if this vendor hadn’t made the mistake to begin with, I wouldn’t have gone on this emotional journey or learned so much about myself in the process…let alone, been able to share it with you. For that, I am very appreciative of that vendor and their mistake. Bless them!

Connecting to the Sun?

connecting to the sunOK, this is really fascinating…at least, I hope it is as fascinating to you as it is to me!

Many of us know that the Institute of HeartMath has discovered that the human heart is the largest generator of electro-magnetic fields in the body. The heart creates an EMF Vastly greater than the brain, which was previously thought to fully “control the body”.

Science also tells us that atoms can be changed either electrically and/or magnetically. This means that the human heart, through which we feel emotions every time we think a thought, is capable of changing the atoms around us. Quantum physics concurs with this and delves further into multiple dimensions and probabilities.

Furthermore, the Earth itself has it’s own electro-magnetic field which our heart-based EMFs tap into.

Add to this information, this astonishing video…

Pilots knew about this phenomenon, but they were afraid to share this information for fear it would put their mental fitness in question. Scientists admit they don’t understand the lightning that happens on the Earth, let alone what happens in the atmosphere. However, NASA has found there is an electro-magnetic connection between the Sun and the Earth. The clouds, it appears, act as a kind of circuit-breaker that protects the Earth from potentially catastrophic lighting in the ionisphere. Well, at least from the electrical effects…what about the magnetic affects?

Many indigenous cultures refer to Mother Earth and Father Sun, fully honoring and recognizing the conscious connection that exists between the two.

Law of Attraction is based on the idea that, in this vibrational universe, everything is energy and we are all connected. The fact that our emotions connect us to the Earth which is also connected to the Sun, it’s not hard to imagine that our Sun and entire solar system is connected energetically with the rest of the Universe and multiverses!

Those of us who are finding their sleep and rest cycles disturbed by the most active Solar Flares may not be surprised by this connection. In fact, it might be a relief to have a better idea how the Sun is affecting humans on Earth.

It fascinates me that Science is catching up with what the ancient and indigenous cultures have been saying for eons! In the past, we had to accept these concepts on faith alone. I LOVE that Science is helping us examine the nuts and bolts, rubber-meets-the-road understandings of the ancient wisdom!

WTF?

WTF - What's The Feeling?

When I am working with clients who are distressed about not experiencing what they prefer, it’s relatively easy for me to see what’s going on because I am not emotionally caught up in the experience. (This is just one of the reasons we all benefit from working with teachers, mentors, and/or coaches…they can help us see and navigate issues that we are too close to emotionally.)

First thing you have to remember is that: When there is emotional discord, it is a signal that what we are thinking is discordant with the goal we have in mind.

Caught in the emotional web, we often cannot see where we are creating discord in our thoughts and feelings. As Einstein said, you cannot solve a problem with the same energy that created the problem. Quantum Physicists say that when two or more vibrations match up, they are “coherent”. Coherent energy is the opposite of discordant or incoherent energy. The energy of the problem and the energy of the solution are discordant, not coherent.

In order to solve your problem, you must get into vibrational coherence with the energy of the solution. Here is a quick tip for those discordant moments when you want to release the negative energy get back on track with positive energy. I call this tip: WTF? It is a reminder to ask the question: What’s The Feeling? Yeah, I bet that’s not what you thought it meant. 😉

Step 1:  Take out a piece of paper. Draw a line sideways on the paper half-way down to break it into two sections. At the top of both sections, write: WTF?

Step 2: In the top section, write down how you are currently feeling...dump all the raw emotions inside of you out onto this piece of paper. As soon as you begin to acknowledge how you are truly feeling you are in a better position to release that energy.

Step 3:
On the bottom half of the paper, answer the question: What’s the Feeling of my preferred outcome? Usually, we only want to experience something because we think it will feel better than what we are currently feeling. So, tap into the feeling you anticipate that your preferred outcome will evoke in you. Immerse yourself in what that would look, sound, and feel like to you and write that down.

Step 4: Compare the feelings from the top and bottom sections. If you are feeling unhappy, it is because you want the feeling in the bottom section but you are stuck in the feeling of the top section. Now you can clearly see WHY you are feeling discordant: too much of your attention has been focused where you don’t want it and not enough has been on the feelings that you want to evoke.

Step 5: It’s time to let go of the energy that is creating the discord: tear or cut off the top part of the paper and dispose of it (crumple it up, burn it in a safe container, or throw it out).

Step 6: Refocus your energy. With the bottom half of the paper remaining, ask yourself how you can begin feeling more the way you know you want to feel. If an answer comes immediately, do it. If it doesn’t, trust that the answer will show up and you will be ready for it when it does! One idea: use the list of feelings that are coherent with your desire(s) to create your own powerful customized affirmations.

As you focus your attention MORE on the feeling you desire, you move yourself vibrationally into coherence with that desire. Your emotions are an indicator of where you are focusing your thoughts and feelings. They are truly a divine gift to help you see where you need to get into vibrational coherence.

I am inviting you to begin asking yourself this question, all day, every day. This could quite possibly the most important question you can ask yourself throughout the day: WTF? = What’s The Feeling? What am I feeling right now? What feeling is closest to what I want to experience? What can I do to focus on the feeling I want to evoke?

Now you have a new meaning for WTF…one that can help you get back on track vibrationally. Share below your comments and suggestions for getting into coherent feelings.

Effective Solopreneur: Closing the Door on Success

closed_dreamHave you been closing the door on your dreams of success?

Most of you understand that everything that exists in physical form first started out in vibrational form, as a thought.

For instance, someone first *thought* about the computer display you are reading this post on before it came into physical form.

In the same way, someone received a vibrational impression of the keyboard I’m typing this on, and translated that thought into specifications that were given to a manufacturer to create. The manufacturer then created the keyboard on equipment that was once just a thought in someone’s mind.

Your dreams and ideas as a successful solopreneur also started as vibrational impressions that you chose to remember, write down, and flesh out into products and services you offer your clientele.

I don’t know any business owner who consciously starts out saying, “I want to create something that will not sell, that will cost more than it earns, and that will be a waste time and money for any of the people who do buy it.”

And yet, that’s the outcome that many people are experiencing. Why would that be? Because many people are unconsciously closing the doors on their own success before it has a chance to move from vibrational form into physical form.

Quantum physics has shown that the Universe is composed of more energy than solid, physical matter. Way more! The more scientists look deep into matter to find what it is made of, the less physical stuff they find and the more energy they reveal. Furthermore, they’ve learned that what we perceive as empty space is really untapped potential energy awaiting our conscious attention. Experiments have repeatedly shown that this energy responds to our conscious attention and that there is unlimited potential in every aspect of this energy. Every quantum possibility already exists, and the one that comes into physical form is the one we have given the most attention.

The difference between a financial depression and financial prosperity depends on which one we give the most attention.

The difference between a business failing and a business thriving depends on which one we give the most attention.

The difference between begging for clients and a waiting list of clients depends on which one we give the most attention.

Our attention includes our intentions, our attitudes, the stories we tell ourselves and others, and the feelings these thoughts, beliefs and emotions evoke. When you speak about your dreams and your business in ways that uplift you, your emotion is telling you that you are in alignment with the deeper part of yourself…the Source Energy that is the basis of everything we perceive with our senses.

When you speak about your dreams and your business in ways that saddens and depresses you, your emotion is telling you that you are NOT in alignment with the deeper part of yourself. You are, in effect, shutting down that quantum possibility before the vibration every has a chance to make it into physical form. That means, every time you repeatedly give your attention to aspects of your life or business that upset you, worry you, or cause you to feel bad, you are essentially closing the vibrational door on your own success. You are the one sabotaging your own potential!

You can blame the economy, or a corporation, or the government, or any host of others for your failures. But if you want to turn the tide, you’ll have to begin by taking responsibility for your success.

Every time you say you want to do something, but you can’t, you have just CLOSED the door on that quantum possibility! It will never open again, until you change the thoughts, stories, and emotions related to that idea. The bottom line is: You are the only one who can control your thoughts, and when you focus on what upsets, worries, depresses, or angers you, you are pre-paving your future with that same energy.

Think about that for a moment. If you don’t like what you are currently experiencing, how much do you think you’ll like more of the same in the future?!?

If you want to see your business succeed, then you must first make a commitment to keep your vibrational doors open. That commitment includes being conscious where you give your attention. It includes stopping the behavior, thoughts, beliefs and emotions that brought you to this point. It also includes not getting involved in other people’s dramas.

It’s one thing to allow others to think or believe whatever they choose, and wish them well, and another to feel it’s your responsiblity to make everyone think like you. You must stay focused on the thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that support your success and let others find their own paths.

If you are unwilling to make that energetic commitment, you have just closed the door on your dream, behind the vault of your subconscious mind. Buried there, your subconsious mind will block attempts to access any kind of success. It will seem like every effort you make is failing, no matter what you do, nothing is working. But who was the one who closed the door?!?

The good news is that you can begin now unlocking your success.

We are Vibrational Transmitters

coherence_heartAnyone who has worked with me has heard me speak about the science behind metaphysical teachings, specifically how the mind, brain, and heart work. Of all the people I know who speak on this subject, Gregg Braden is the one who really *understands* this material, and *communicates* this somewhat complicated information very clearly.

Below is one of my favorite videos of Gregg speaking about how scientists first realized that the emotions of humans was affecting the electro-magnetic field of the Earth, and how *that* realization led to more studies.

Here are some of the major points you’ll want to listen for in this video:

1. We have the power to affect the magnetic fields of the Earth. Shifts in the Earth’s electro-magnetic field spike in response to human emotions (i.e. after disasters) and have been picked up by the U.S. GOES satellites.

2. This lead to research to understand how this can happen. It has revealed two false scientific assumptions: A.) Everything is separate from everything else,  and B.) Our inner experiences (thought, feeling, emotion, and belief) have no effect on the world beyond our bodies.

3. We can intentionally choose to positively effect the magnetic fields of the Earth, to which every human is linked. When we feeling appreciation/gratitude/compassion in our hearts, for ourselves and/or others, it is called a heart-coherent state. Abraham-Hicks refers to it as being in the Vortex.

4. The brain generates an electro-magnetic field, but it is relatively weak compared to the heart. The human heart creates an electro-magnetic field that is FAR more powerful than brain waves ~ 100x more powerful electrically, and up to 5,000x more powerful magnetically! (Researched by the Institute of HeartMath)

5. The physical world, as we know it, is made up of the two fields of energy ~ electrical and magnetic. Our physics books now tell us that *if* we can change either the electrical or the magnetic field of an atom, we *change* that atom. This is how we change our bodies and the stuff this world is made of ~ through the heart-coherent emotions we transmit through our hearts.

6. When we get into the research and ancient teachings, what we experience appears to be less about attraction and more about *mirroring* back to us what we transmit out into the quantum field.

Getting Clear About How You Really Feel

It’s been 10 days since I’ve posted on my blog. It’s not that I haven’t had anything to say or that I haven’t been active, because I have. I have been busy coaching and learning and sharing and co-creating…Yes, I walk my talk and apply what I learn. I’m discovering how everything is an opportunity for spiritual growth, just waiting for you to pay attention to it long enough to realize the gift it holds for you.

When I find something that works for me, I like to share it with others! So, when I found this Magic “FateBall” widget that reminded me of my childhood, I had to share it. While this tool is fun, it’s also a tremendously valuable in helping you get clear about how you feel.

Whenever you feel conflicted about a situation you are in, and are not sure how you really feel…ask the question to your Inner Being, then click the green “fateball activate” button. The answer the FateBal (below) gives is less important than how you FEEL inside when you get the answer.

For instance, if you are wondering if it best for you to take a certain job, ask your inner self, “Is it in my best interest to take this job?” Then, click the button. If the response is more or less YES, but you feel disappointed to see that answer, then you get a deeper insight into how you feel about pursuing that job. Likewise, if the answer is more or less NO, and you feel happy about that answer. The feeling you feel inside in response to the FateBall’s answer gives you a deeper insight into what previously may have felt unclear.
