Have you noticed the same situations happening again and again with your business?
Do you wonder why you are having similar issues recur with clients or vendors?
When was the last time you asked, “Why does this keep happening?“
Brain research estimates that our conscious mind is only aware of about 10% of what happens around us and in our thoughts. The vast majority, 50-60% it is estimated, takes place below the conscious level in the subconscious mind.
Bringing the Subconscious Mind to the Light
The 50-60% of our mind that is subconscious is running mental programming 24/7. This part of our mind uses our memory, knowledge, and experiences to make decisions for us. By bringing subconscious beliefs to our conscious attention, we can decide what to keep and what to transmute.
Not all subconscious beliefs need to be transmuted, as helpful beliefs support us in moving through the world without having to consciously address everything. However, most of us through the process of living have some unhelpful subconscious programming that could use some conscious transmutation.
This is because when we were younger, and before we could speak or advocate for ourselves, we made decisions and developed beliefs that became part of our unhelpful subconscious mind programming.
For instance, a child who felt fearful and began crying may have been admonished by the parents for making noise (crying). The parent’s objection may have been to the noise of the crying child, but the child perceived the admonishment as disapproval, which formed a belief that they cannot freely express their fears or cry. As the child matures into an adult, an unhelpful subconscious program based on this belief continually steers them toward not expressing fear or crying.
As an adult, the ability to express our emotions is vitally important, so having a subconscious program running that is counter to our health and well-being would be helpful to uncover and transmute.
Uncovering Versus Looking For Unconscious Beliefs
It’s important for me to point out the difference between uncovering unconscious beliefs for conscious transmutation versus actively looking for unconscious beliefs. The first recognizes that our experiences have always been lovingly pointing to the answers we seek, and that we can raise our energy by being conscious of what we are shown.
The latter approach comes from a dis-empowering energy that there is something wrong with us that needs to be fixed or eradicated. That approach leads us to feel that nothing is good about us, our business, or what we offer. It might even lead us to imagining, manufacturing, and eventually manifesting, more unhelpful unconscious beliefs.
This post is about the former approach—gently and lovingly uncovering what’s already before us. Using our conscious awareness to understand the lesson, and then consciously choosing a new story, a new attitude, a new belief that better supports us and our business.
Have you ever considered ways that unhelpful subconscious mind patterns are working 24/7 in your business?
Bringing subconscious mind patterns to light so we can consciously choose to transmute them is a powerful way for business owners to shift their energy and succeed.
In his 3CD Workshop entitled, The Millionaire Course: A Visionary Plan for Creating the Life of Your Dreams, the author shares examples of how his poverty thinking had been running a program in his subconscious for decades. (If you missed my post with Marc Allen’s interview, you can watch it here.)
Now a mult-millionaire, Marc Allen, author, musician, and founder of New World Library is happy to teach others how to bring their subconscious core beliefs into the light for conscious re-consideration.
Addressing Your Core Beliefs Process
In his workshop, Allen shares a process for shedding light on the subconscious programming that is running in the background of our consciousness. I recommend this process for all business owners as an empowering way to bring unconscious programming to conscious light.
I also recommend that this tool be used on a frequent basis—quarterly, at a minimum. Make the experience enjoyable by setting some quiet time aside, turn on some music, grab a cuppa something you enjoy, then have a nice journal or a new pen handy to write out your answers. The more you do this process, the more you’ll easily see what unhelpful subconscious programming has been working on your business with you.
Don’t be surprised if something you wish you’d known about before emerges after a while of using this process. When you’re ready to release the programming that is no longer serving you, those thoughts/beliefs will appear and become obvious to you. You will know immediately that it’s time to let them go and be ready to do so.
Personally, it has helped me be a more conscious business owner, develop better relationships with clients and vendors, nip problems earlier rather than later, make decisions from an energetically clearer place, and tell a better story about my business.
Here is the process Marc Allen offers in his workshop:
- Describe the ‘problem’ as you perceive it to be at the present moment?
- What (specific) emotions are you feeling at the present moment?
- What specific physical sensations are you feeling in your body?
- What are you thinking about right now? (What is your current self-talk?)
- What’s the worst that can happen? Then, the next worst that can happen? and the next worst?
- What’s the best that can happen? The next best thing that can happen? and the next best?
- What fears and limiting beliefs have been revealed in the answers above?
- Create an affirmation to refocus each fear and limiting belief.
I recommend creating as many affirmations as you feel comfortable working with at a given point. Personally, I often choose 3 – 5 at a time, so that when I say the affirmations in succession I can feel the powerful *new story* emerging within me. Since we are ALWAYS affirming something, being conscious about what you are saying and thinking is very empowering.
As business owners tell a new story, and consciously shift our thinking from the unhelpful to the helpful, we begin to feel an energetic shift that is reflected in our business experiences.
