♥ EXPERIENCES
RamPAGE OF APPRECIATION for:
Being a Kitty Mommy
Thelma and Louise, named by their previous owner, who passed away.
I debated putting this under *people*, because…Pets are people, too…right?!? At least according to the character Radar on TV’s Mash. But, then I realized, it’s really the *experience* of owning, loving, caring for and hanging out with our pets that is really the true joy. The journey with our pets IS the experience we seek, not the destination.
Having been raised with dogs, I heard tons of stories about how awful cats were. In my life, it’s been dog-lovers, especially, who seem to enjoy finding fault with cats. As a result, I was pretty scared of them, and if I saw one I kept my distance.
Then, after our dog died when I was 15, my high school art teacher asked if we’d watch her cat while she was out of town. I thought *for sure* my Mom would say, “NO”, but she surprised me. We watched *Frisky* for almost 3 weeks, and it only took 24 hours for me to fall completely in *love* with her. She was quiet, soft, gentle, ever-present, and comforting to be around. I realized that all of the bad things I had heard about cats just were not true! It was hard to give her back to her owners when they came back in town, but I then had an excuse to visit her often.
Since then, I’ve had the intense pleasure of loving and being owned by many kitties—both my own and those in my neighborhood. I’ve truly never met a cat I didn’t like, let alone *adore*. People who haven’t been owned by a cat might confuse their aloofness with all sorts of bad characteristics—but I see it as their intelligence. They *know* that they are worthy of love and affection, and *expect* you to prove your worthiness. As a result, cats are in control of the quality of people that associate with them. Once you prove your worth, they allow you to own them—but until then, you are just another object to navigate around. Come to think of it, kitties have a lot to teach about self-esteem, taking responsibility for our own happiness, and owning our worth!
There’s nothing that raises my vibrations as fast as being near or thinking about my kitties! It could be the *worst* day, and it is completely forgotten as soon as Thelma taps me with her paw or Louise climbs into my lap! Even thinking about all the kitties I’ve loved who have now transitioned into non-physical—I feel them around me and I still feel their love. To top it off, it’s now been proven that cats have a unique healing power all their own. (No cat owner needed scientific proof, I guarantee you!)
I still enjoy dogs, mind you…and am always happy to visit friends with pets. I even volunteered to help GGLRR set up their new website. But I am also very happy to come home, where I’m welcomed by the sweetest whiskered furballs who appreciate me as much as I appreciate them! There is a *HUGE* place in my heart for the warmth, gentleness and love that are unique to kitties.

Twitter
OhMiGosh…First, what Twitter IS: a free web-based application that allows you to connect with and communicate with others by way of “tweets” (short messages limited to 140 characters). It’s an incredible tool for connecting with people, be it family, co-workers, your community of like-minded folks, or those in your geographical location.
Twitter naturally connects like-minded people, so complainers usually find each other…as do positive, LOA-minded folks (that’s me). I call it the Law of Attraction in Networking Action.
OK, it’s time for a confession. I’d heard about Twitter for quite a while. Everyone who used the service raved about the experience. It just seemed like another (yet another!) way to waste one’s time on the computer! Then, I listened to a call on Social Media where the teacher could not sign up a new account on Twitter because all her *preferred IDs were taken*. Curious, I signed up for a free account to see if “AffirmingSpirit” was available. It was…and the rest, as they say, was history!!!
I have met some of the most amazing people, grown my network, drawn attention to my blog, newsletter, free eCourse, and other offerings on my website. More importantly, I have found the most positive, uplifting and conscious group of people on the planet. I *love* my Twitter network, and I’m not exaggerating.
If you are a business or a person looking to connect to others, I cannot recommend Twitter highly enough…you have to try it to believe that you can create such amazing connections in just 140c or less. But be warned: After joining Twitter, typing out a whole, long email with words fully spelled out will somehow seem *tedious*. ROTFL!!! :^)
