Our Stories Create Our Beliefs Which Drive Our Actions

October 14, 2011

You probably have noticed that I have written a lot about how our stories affect us. Last night, I was watching Oprah’s LIfe Class (episode 3, with Cheryl Richardson) where she talks about how we don’t get what we want, we get what we believe. Our beliefs are formed by the stories we tell ourselves based on what we have perceived through our lifetime.

Most of the stories we carry with us as adults were developed between birth and 6 years old. When experience meets emotions…

Turning My Thoughts Around

September 30, 2011

You’ve probably heard it before, and know from your own experience: It’s easy to be calm and positively focused when all is going well. The REAL TEST is how you handle life in the face of major emotional upheavals.

Abraham uses the term “contrast” for any experience that is different from what we would choose to experience…in that the experience contrasts from what we think we want. This past week, I had some major contrast that gave me an opportunity to learn and grow.

Last Sunday night, I was in my home office working when I heard blood-curdling howling from my sweet kitty, Thelma.

Releasing Your Victim Status

September 20, 2011

How often do you feel like a victim? How often do you feel like things happen TO you, instead of FOR you? Some of you reading this will probably say, never, and those people might want to look a little deeper.

Recently, I became aware that I was raised to feel like a victim. In no way do I blame my family. I doubt they set out to *make* me feel that way, let alone to feel that way themselves, but it still is the truth: I was raised with a victim mentality.

I know I was raise d to feel this way be cause my family’s favorite pastime is complaining! Not only did the adults around me model how to complain, we were actively encouraged to look for things to complain about and rewarded with extra attention when we did. In family gatherings, not only could you get lots of attention for complaining, most times the rest of the group would join in and add their complaints to the mix!

But it didn’t stop there. Complaining wasn’t even JUST the favorite pastime in my family, but in the culture around me, where it’s still active everywhere in our media and news sources! (This is an excerpt – click the link to read more…)

Relaxing Into Summer

September 10, 2011

This is my first post in 2 months. Not because I don’t like to post, but because I decided to wait for inspiration and ended up relaxing into summer.

How often do you let yourself reeeaaally relax?

Even though I was relaxing, I was also actively doing what inspired me. I practiced deep breathing and Quantum Entrainment several times a day, whenever inspired. I got out in nature. I took walks and said my favorite affirmations. I read books…[This is an EXCERPT - click the link to read the full post and download the extras]

Power Animals

July 9, 2011

Have you ever contemplated the power that animals bring to your life experience?

As I type this post, I’m sitting next to an open window with the sounds of hundreds of birds chirping. No, I don’t live in the country but in a rather large suburb, an area known as Birdland. Groves of mature trees attract birds to nest…from hummingbirds in my backyard to ravens and even some hawks and wild parrots! Go to the post to read more…

Are You an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person)?

July 3, 2011

Does this scenario ring a bell for you…

“I’ve always been highly sensitive, and as a creative and inventive person, this is usually considered a very good thing.

Except when non-sensitive types always made fun of my sensitivity~cracking jokes at my expense, or finding fault with everything about me, and then accusing me of being “overly sensitive” or “touchy” or “having no sense of humor” when I didn’t laugh. I actually have a very good sense of humor and an ability to laugh at myself, but I am also highly sensitive.”

Some HSPs pick up on other people’s energy and have a hard time shaking it off. Others become easily over-stimulated and find being in the world very overwhelming. A number of HSPs constantly feel like the world is against them and being true to themselves feels like an uphill battle. Still others had the blessing of realizing they are HSPs, and have found ways that help them function better while taking advantage of their amazing sensitivity.

Letting Go of the Struggle with Affirmations

June 15, 2011

How is it possible that I have such great experiences with affirmations and so many others struggle with it? First, I know HOW to create powerful customized affirmations. Second, I do not struggle with affirmations ~ I know they work and I know they are very much worth the effort.

I realized it was time to work with some folks who didn’t believe in the power of affirmations, coach them, show them how to let go of the struggle, and have them talk about their experience.

So, I turned to the great community at Good Vibe University ~ asking who was ready to let go of their struggle with affirmations. (Go to the full blog post to listen to the call!)

Connecting with Who You Really Are: The Power of Quantum Entrainment

May 28, 2011

By now, I hope you have noticed that anything I recommend to you I have first tried and experimented with myself. In this blog, I share not only what I have learned, but what has worked for me, with the intention that you will also try what resonates for you and experience positive outcomes.

This past February, Trish Spadt told me about a process she was enjoying called Quantum Entrainment. With excitement, she talked about how it has changed how she perceives the world and positively shifted many things in her life. I had met Trish virtually last Fall when she had inquired about selling my meditation program on her website. So, I called Trish (it turned out it was also her birthday) and we had a joyful conversation about metaphysics, her journey understanding how we heal ourselves, and about Quantum Physics. So, when she brought up Quantum Entrainment in our next conversation in February, I decided to check it out!

Showing Up for *FUN* (instead of work)

May 9, 2011

When you think or hear the word work, what goes through your mind? Do you automatically think hardship, difficulty, frustration, irritation?

What do you feel in your body? Do you feel angst and tension in your body? Maybe a feeling of dread?

When you think a thought often enough, it becomes a belief. When you hold a belief long enough, it becomes ingrained in the cells and tissues of your body. This is nature coding and preparing your body so you can act quickly in the face of potential danger. Instead of lions and tigers (OH MY!), these days most folks are facing stress and perceived danger from their health, relationships, and yes…their work.

Most of what we believe about work is what we were taught by the adults in our life when we were young. Most of us were taught that no one would pay you to do something fun. We were taught the big money comes from doing the hard, frustrating, dirty, and difficult jobs. Now that you are an adult, you get to ask yourself: Is what I have been taught about work REALLY true? Is there a different way to view work?

Is it possible to show up for FUN?

Exploring an Ancient Energy Clearing Modality: Ho’oponopono

April 21, 2011

I’ve been wanting to write about the Ha’waiian energy technique, Ho’oponopono (Ho – oh – po – no – po – no) for quite a long time. I’ve had amazing success with it, even though I didn’t really understand how it worked. That was, until I began learning about Quantum Physics and the work being done by HeartMath.

Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.

It was Dr. Joe Vitale’s viral article that first taught me about Ho’oponopono in 2006. Upon reading the article, I thought it was interesting, but to say I was skeptical would be an understatement! In the article, Joe talks about understanding full responsibility a profound way after hearing about a native Hawaiian psychologist named Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len cured an entire prison of criminally insane patients without ever seeing the patients in person. At first blush, that sounds pretty wacky, doesn’t it?!?
