Making Peace—Where You Are

making peaceWith the International Day of Peace (September 21st) just around the corner, I was reminded that global peace is the out-picturing of the Inner Peace that starts from within. Transforming difficulties into peaceful learning experiences starts with making peace with where you are, right now.

Making Peace with Contrast

When we are in the middle of intense contrast, in the throes of often crippling fear, anxiety, worry, and doubt, peace is not easy to feel. However, if we don’t want to stay in this place, we must shift our energy, and the easiest way I know to do that is to make peace with where we are, right in that state of contrast.

Law of Attraction dictates that our dominant vibration will draw to us similar-vibration thoughts, feelings, and experiences. So, staying in debilitating fear and anxiety of intense contrast means we’re attracting to us vibrational-equivalents. At some point, the idea of making peace will feel much easier than staying in the contrast.

Bees in the Attic

Personal case in point: In mid-2006, after going into shock from a bee sting, I had been informed that I was now officially allergic to bees. So, imagine how I felt when, during a slow time for my design business, a huge active beehive was discovered in the attic above the master bedroom of my townhome!

Business had been slow, and my finances were tight. My first fear was how to pay to remove the beehive. In a state of fear and panic over the situation, I had forgotten that a bee sting could be deadly!

Every time I thought about the beehive, how it needed to be removed quickly, and that I didn’t know how I would pay for it, I became even more fearful and panicked. My thoughts kept spiraling, and my energy was sinking with them. At some point, in my haze of spiral thinking, I remembered Abraham‘s suggestion to ‘count your blessings’.

Count my blessings?!? ::shock:: How was I supposed to do THAT in the face of THIS?!? I wasn’t sure, but I made myself sit down, right then, and write out a list. The first one was hard to think of, but when I remembered that I hadn’t been stung inside my home by the bees from my own hive, I put it first on the list.

Once I made a list of the blessings, and there turned out to be many, I was suddenly feeling much better about the whole situation! Whenever the fear thoughts would arise, I would turn back to my list of blessings and find myself smiling that I ever thought this situation was a ‘problem’.

As I focused on the list of blessings, something interesting happened. Not only did I feel better, but a short while after making the list, the inspection company that had found the hive called me to say the neighbors would be sharing the expense of removal! Turns out, they were the source of the hive. To me, knowing that the bill would be less than expected was a blessing.

Then, out of the blue, a client I hadn’t spoken to in a long time called me for a large project that would not only cover the cost of the bee removal but provide income for many months ahead. I was amazed and delighted!

By shifting my focus from the ‘problem’ to the ‘blessings’, the entire situation literally transformed into a blessing!

Making peace with where you are will help you release the resistance to the contrast, and see the situation from a better-feeling perspective.

Making Peace Worksheet

I realize that by the time I learned to look for blessings in the middle of contrast, I had been studying metaphysics for many years. You might not find it so easy to shift your energy on your ‘what is’ (contrast).

To help you, I’ve created a downloadable PDF worksheetmaking peace worksheet, to print and fill out. This worksheet may initially seem hard. Sitting down to do it is the hardest part. Once you experience the value of the process, however, I hope you find that transforming your ‘what is’ contrast is more enjoyable than you expected!

If you are currently in fear, anxiety, worry, and doubt over a high-contrast situation, I invite you to download and use this worksheet to shift your energy into a better vibration. Feel free to share this post with other friends who could benefit, too!

If you found this worksheet helpful, please leave a comment below to share your experience, too!

Getting Into Agreement With Your Business

agreementWhat does the term “getting into agreement” make you think as a Conscious Creator of your business?

I must admit that when I first read that term, I got the impression of agreeing to disagree and forcing oneself to agree even when we don’t want to (or it doesn’t feel good). The idea, itself, was not appealing.

Getting into Agreement

Several days ago, I was looking in my library for a particular book that remained elusive as I came across Catherine Ponder’s classic Open Your Mind to Receive. Flipping it open, I came to the chapter entitled, “Your Gift of Agreement”, where the author references the ancient saying…

“When you agree with life, then life agrees with you. Always there is ground for agreement. Agree and withdraw in peace.”

Even that quote left me wondering if she intends for us to ‘stuff our feelings’ and go along to get along. If you don’t dig deeper, though, you could also be left with that incomplete impression.

Reading through a number of stories about how agreeing with their disagreeable circumstances allowed each person to succeed, I realized the connection between choosing to ‘agree’ and posts I’ve written about embracing every experience as a blessing, softening contrast, and being discerning about the labels we choose.

All of those posts were based on some profound personal and professional experiences that showed me how we *morph* the energy field around us in real-time as we shift our own energy and allow ourselves to see/feel good, no matter what is happening around us. I’ve literally experienced very dark experiences shift AS I made a conscious choice to see the good in the experience, then watched circumstances shift to reflect the good I was consciously choosing to see. Some would even call them miracles, although Conscious Creators would recognize Law of Attraction in action.

Agreement in Your Business

At some point in every business, you’ll have an experience with another person (vendor, employee, client, customer, etc.) or situation where this idea could not only make it much CPonder Agreement Quoteeasier to navigate, but allow the outcome to be pleasant for all involved.

Many who are not Conscious Creators are unaware of how the simple act of deciding we have a problem keeps the “problem” locked in place. The moment we begin to decide we are blessed, and that this situation is proof of such blessings, we’re opening the door to experience the blessings embedded in the problem—and to watch the solutions reveal themselves!

We have the power to free ourselves almost from the moment of acknowledging our belief that a problem exists.

Ponder encourages her readers to agree with the good in an adverse situation, even when it’s in the past: “When you agree with a situation by pronouncing it good—whether it seems to be good for you or not—you are agreeing with the unseen good in the situation. You are opening the way for it to appear.”

Your Business Is Listening

As you open the way for good to appear, you will notice opportunities, people, and solutions that elude those who are focused on the problem(s). This is the Law of Attraction revealing itself to us in every part of our life and business! Decide you have a problem, and you do.

The more you decide your problem cannot be solved, the less likely you’ll become aware of solutions. Decide that you are blessed, that there is good abounding in your situation(s), that everything and everyone is serving your highest good, and likewise you’ll be proven right!

Henry Ford was believed to have said, “Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”

Ponder shares a number of stories where people came together in agreement for the benefit of all involved, but she also reminds us that we can do this on our own by ‘speaking our agreement in our own heart’.

I’ve experienced this firsthand on many occasions. One time, I was dealing with a very difficult and abusive client. She was quarrelsome and constantly changing the specifications and scope, although she seemed unaware.

In the middle of her project, when I was not about to quit, this client called me and began insulting me over the phone. Instead of responding in kind (which anyone would have said I was justified in doing), I let her speak as I opened my mind to the idea that she was a blessing. I silently spoke Ho’oponopono to myself, and she began to calm down then excused herself from the call.

Although I was shaken from the experience, I also knew that if I didn’t clear my own energy, the difficult situation with this client would prevail. Then, completing the project would be even more difficult!

I stopped where I was in my office, put my hand on my heart, and took several deep breaths as though I was breathing through my heart. (This is the way HeartMath teaches first responders to calm themselves in the middle of crisis.)

From this centered place I thanked this woman for being a blessing in my life and business. I asked for white light and angels to support this woman in whatever crisis she was facing, and I gave thanks for the unseen support I was receiving. In just a few moments, I felt calm and clear, and ready to finish the project for this client.

From that point on, every time I dealt with this client she was congenial and easy going as if she was a different person! Yet…I had not said a word to her about her abusive behavior toward me. We had not experienced any of the drama that is normally involved in confrontations. The project was completed successfully, and everyone was happy.

Difficult clients can be declared a blessing, and frustrating business scenarios can be named a success. By opening the door to seeing our most difficult business issues as a blessing, we take our focus off problems and the universe responds. Even if you don’t know what the future holds for your business, you can start now by labeling your business a total success. Today, and every day.

Ponder also shares a story of a business woman who found herself in the presence of a man who talked lack, poverty, and limitation which left her feeling impoverished. This negative focus affected her own finances, and soon she was blaming this man for her failing business. Can you relate?

At some point, she remembered the power of agreement and chose to reverse her thinking, look past his negative attitude, and agree with the well-being in her situation.

She said to herself: “This man is in my life for my good and for my prosperity.”  Soon after, through this man, she received a lucrative business referral. Then, he faded out of her life by moving to a distant city. Nothing changed for her until she changed her own attitude, and declared the good in this man and her situation.

Recognizing our power to agree with the current circumstances, imagining it working for our benefit, we soon realize there is no such thing as failure. Even the most difficult experiences teach us something about ourselves and others.

Where can your business benefit from declaring success, and seeing the good?

Charmed Business

charmedBusiness books and business schools teach, what they consider to be, practice how-to’s as if that is all a business owner needs to be successful. They completely leave out the discussion about energy except a perfunctory: Stay positive.

Which is practically meaningless unless we have been managing our vibration on a regular basis! Because the energy of our thoughts cascades down to our words, actions, and how others feel around us.

It’s easy to be positive when everything is going well in our business. If we only remember to manage our vibration when we are mired in difficulty, then it’s a lot harder than if we’ve been doing it all along.

Charmed

Recently, I was reminded of this quote by Abraham about living a charmed life:

You would walk around, and you would be saying, whether you say it out loud or you say it to yourself, “I am a wonderful Being. There is nothing that I cannot achieve. The world addresses itself to me always in positive ways. Everything always works out magnificently for me. I live a charmed life. Things are supposed to (and always do) go well for me. Seas part for me. I have the resources of the Universe at my disposal. I live in an environment where I am inspired to a new thought. And as soon as I give birth to it, things align in order to bring me the actualization or the manifestation of it. I am an extension of Source Energy. I am God in a physical body and I am good. And because I am good, good things come to me.
—Abraham-Hicks, Washington, D.C., 10/15/05

Reading it again got me thinking about running a charmed business – one in which all the resources arrive as needed, as if magically called. Engaging the Universal forces to assist you in everything from creating your products and services, developing your marketing and sales processes, attracting ideal clients/customers, and getting the word out about your business.

Think this is far-fetched?

In her book, Hiring the Heavens, author Jean Slatter called on non-physical forces for assistance with writing the book, editing it, and finding the ideal publisher. Slatter specifically asked her dream angelic support team to identify the best publisher for her. Soon, she received guidance to check out New World Library in California. As soon as she did, she knew this was going to be her publisher.

Contrary to what most writing experts would suggest, Slatter sent the manuscript directly to New World Library and they accepted her manuscript and published the book, despite having a policy of only working with agents. They FELT her energy and responded to it!

Our business is an energy stream that is continually responding to how we feel, think and talk about it (to others and ourselves). It is mirroring back to us the energy of our actions, just as our relationships, health, and money are mirrors.

If we’re feeling optimistic and excited, even if we don’t know exactly HOW to take action, we’re more likely to have an outcome that reinforces the vibration of “optimism and excited”.

Likewise if we’re feeling defeated, overwhelmed, and frustrated.

It’s up to us. We must DECIDE how we are going to feel in our business, minute-to-minute, day-to-day…and how others receive the results of our efforts.

That time that my client’s feedback contained exactly the words and phrases I was thinking while working on their project taught me this, too. Other people FEEL the energy with which we create or serve, even if they are not consciously aware of it.

As soon as I realized this, I became more conscious about my own energy while taking actions in my business. I asked for guidance to meet or exceed my client’s expectations…even expectations the client wasn’t even aware of having! I received and took action on the guidance, and clients raved!

Sure, there could be days when we have to consciously remind ourselves, or even cut ourselves some slack. But, the tumultuous waves of those difficult days are a lot easier to surf if we’ve been practicing vibration management every day.

We Are the Ones

It’s up to us to start seeing/feeling/knowing our business as charmed, magical, thriving entity with every resource available at its disposal. When vendors are needed, they reveal themselves. When additional funding or business loans are needed, we identify an ideal source. When we are ready for more clients/customers, they hear our energetic call. When we know our business is providing a needed product or service while making the world a better place, we will see that ‘reality’ mirrored back to us.

Imagine how your business would respond if this was how you thought and felt about it…
“My business is magical, and everything we do makes the world a better place! The world addresses itself to my business always in positive ways. Everything always works out magnificently for my clients, my vendors, and my business, creating fabulous and fun win-win-win experiences for all involved!

I run a charmed business! Day-to-day business details are supposed to (and always do) go well. Seas part for my business success. My magical business has the resources of the Universe at its disposal. As soon as I encounter inspired thoughts and feelings about my business, things align in order to actualize or the manifest it in my magical business. My business is inspiring, uplifting, and connecting me moment-to-moment with the inspiration and resources of Source Energy. I love my charmed business!”

What I’d love to know is…how are you choosing to see the magic in your business?

Staying Inspired in Your Business

staying inspired

For me, it’s not enough to just ‘get inspired’. Staying inspired in my business is very important to me.

One of the tools I use, and find very helpful, is to look for the inspiration I see in others – not because I want to do what they’re doing, but because I enjoy observing their energy, their inspiration which then boosts my own.

When we feel inspired, either on our own or through watching someone else, that is the signal we are sending out to the universe. Likewise, the Universe will mirror back that feeling of inspiration in other parts of our life and business.

Staying Inspired

It’s been said that we are the sum of the 5 people we hang around most. What if you don’t have business examples around you to find unique inspiration? Look for them in the greater world. Thanks to the Law of Attraction, the more you look, the more you’ll find!

Here are a few examples of who I take inspiration from:

Pete Nelson, ‘The Treehouse Guy’– If you’ve ever seen Animal Planet’s Treehouse Masters, then you’ve witnessed this guy’s infectious enthusiasm for all things trees and treehouses. We’re not talking dinky little kid-only treehouses. He designs, then builds with a team, the kind of ideal-for-all-ages treehouses that make your jaw drop. Many include indoor plumbing, heating, internet/wi-fi and full electrical…and amazing views. It’s not hard to see why Pete is so enthusiastic.

What fascinates me is that Pete has a degree in Economics, but his heart had never grown tired of treehouses. His creativity and enthusiasm would not be contained. In a leap of faith, he and his wife decided to start a business based on treehouses . They built a few on their property for an event center and overnight retreats, and taught workshops on building treehouses. They also sell the supplies for making treehouses. Pete has written a number of books about the most amazing and beautiful treehouses all across the globe. That was many years ago, and now with the TV show where he custom designs and manages the building of treehouses all over the U.S., their company is reaching even more people.

I cannot imagine him doing anything else, and it’s addicting to watch the sheer joy and delight he delivers with each project. At the end of each show, he leaves his viewers with lesson from life he’s learned from the trees.

Even if you have invested in a more conventional education, but your heart is calling you to do more creative work, listen to your heart. If Pete and his wife could create a viable business out of treehouses, you can create one doing what you love, too.

Oprah Winfrey, ‘OWN Network’ – I have to mention Oprah, who has inspired millions of people for different reasons. The reason she inspires me? After 25 years of a highly successful TV show, Oprah didn’t owe anyone anything. She could have retired early and lived out a comfortable life as a billionaire. No one would have faulted her for doing so.

Instead of retreating or retiring, Oprah also followed her heart by starting her own television network that would feature unique shows others networks wouldn’t offer, such as Super Soul Sunday, spiritual conversations, and the stunningly beautiful series Belief, exploring how different and similar our beliefs are across the globe.

Starting a new network is not for the faint of heart, and Oprah had many doubts and fears. She did it anyway, because that is where her heart was calling her. She was willing to risk her fortune to make it happen. She was willing to walk her spiritual talk. Along the way, she’s healing herself and others.

If you have a cushy job and bank account(s), it can be scary to step away and try doing something that hasn’t been done before…or currently isn’t being done…to follow your heart’s calling. Yet, when we do, it just feels right…to us. Even if it doesn’t feel right to anyone else.

Neville Goddard, ‘New Thought Author and Lecturer’Neville Goddard is the first example here who is no longer alive, but still an amazing inspiration to me. He lived and worked in the 20th century, and died in the 1970s. There have been a LOT of people in the last 150 years who have been New Thought authors and/or lecturers, but (to me) very few have the ability to express metaphysical concepts so eloquently as Mr. Goddard. There is something about his writing that literally transports me AND allows me understand the concepts at a very deep level.

I’ve lost track of how many times I have sat in awe while re-reading Neville’s writings, realizing that I am understanding the material NOW at an even deeper level due to his phrasing and stories. In those moments, I am simultaneously filled with deep appreciation for his work as a metaphysical teacher AND inspired by his communication skills. It is my full intention to help others the way that Neville has helped me.

Neville didn’t set out to do this work. He was called to it by his own teacher, a Christian Mystic of Arab descent who recognized Neville as the one he was to teach the esoteric mysteries that had been handed down to him. They met when Neville was ‘inspired’ to attend a talk given by the man who would become his teacher. It took a while for Neville to recognize this calling, as well. Once he did, however, he never looked back and the world is so much better off for it.

If you haven’t found your calling, don’t despair. Stay curious and open to possibilities. Allow inspiration to direct you on your own path. It might be a path that you will have to create. Or, you might be creating a new branch from someone elses path. Trust that you are in the right place, with the right people, at the right time.

There are countless people who inspire me, and these are just a few. The ones who inspire me have followed their heart, despite their education and/or background. They excel at what they do, and their ‘heart’ shows in their work. I am inspired as a business owner by these people because they are showing me that I can follow my own heart, excel at what I do, and show my heart every day in my work.

It’s your turn: Who helps reignite inspiration for your own business? Share your insights in the comments below…

Getting Out of the “How” Business

how - letting go[This article was previously published on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

Recently, I have written about embracing change, the power of decision, and believing in what’s possible as tools for creating powerful positive change in your life. Once you open the door to possibilities, your intuitive guidance will begin to show you options. Here is when it is critical to move past the next trap: Wanting to control “how” everything manifests.

Paralyzed by the need to control or see exactly how their wish will materialize, many folks cease taking any action. They need to know exactly how, from start to finish, they will accomplish their goal. The lack of knowing how becomes an excuse never to even begin taking action toward their desired goal. Since a clear solution does not seem available, or viable, they then conclude that their goal is simply not possible. Many goals die a quiet death in this trap.

The truth is “how” your goal manifests is not up to you…at all. That’s the job of the Universe that is orchestrating all beyond your comprehension. It’s your job to sift through all your experiences to decide what it is you really want to experience, and which of those you are really going to pursue, put yourself into the feeling of it as if it’s already manifested…AND LET GO! ‘How’ it comes about is truly the “domain of the Universe” as Mike Dooley says in the original version of The Secret DVD.

In fact, failure to let go sets us up for a vicious cycle. The more we worry about, and try to control, “how” our desires manifest, the more we are adding to the very resistance that keeps those goals at bay. Then, with proof that nothing is working, you have yet another excuse to conclude that the goal was an impossible dream.

If you’ve decided to become a conscious creator, you need to get out of the ‘how’ business. When we let go of the need to control exactly how our desires show up, we release the self-imposed limits on the possible ways our desires can manifest. As humans beings, we have a limited view of what can be accomplished, always based on what we are aware of that has already been done. Getting away from the need to know how is what is meant by “getting out of your own way”.

There’s no question that we DO benefit from pure, positive passion on your way to experience your desired goal, and the persistence to stay focused on the outcome regardless of any naysayers. That said, sometimes the very passion that drives us can cause us to want to know “how”. Successful people the world over know that you do not need to know “how” you will accomplish your goal in order to succeed. They realize that passion for the outcome and trust in the process are the big keys to successful conscious creating.

Jerry Hicks tells a story of how he and Esther had decided they wanted to take the Abraham materials to a wider audience. They happily told others about this, and when people asked how they were going to do it, they just said something to the effect of, “We don’t know right now, but we know the way will be shown.” Then, out of the (seeming) blue, Wayne Dyer and Christiane Northrup, M.D. contacted them to say how much they loved their materials and asking how they could help. Other notable authors and media people stepped forward to do the same. Louise Hay offered to publish their books to a wider audience. They were contacted by Rhonda Byrne to make The Secret movie (original version), which led to them creating their own movies and participating in Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life. Along the way, Oprah called to interview them on her XM 156 Radio show.

All this happened for them because they put their desire out to the listening Universe and spent no time trying to second-guess the energy that creates worlds. They got out of their own way. Esther and Jerry considered what they wanted, focused on that, and trusted that it would show up for them…and it did! You wouldn’t know about all of their books, movies, or YouTube videos if this hadn’t happened for them.

The “Needing-to-Know-How” Addiction
Some people have been demanding to know how for so long that they’ve become addicted to needing to know, not to mention tallying up failures of past goals that never saw the light of day.

The addiction to knowing coupled with the lack of knowing keeps them stuck, in a perpetual (and emotionally exhausting) tug of war.

At the root of needing to know how your goal will manifest is a lack of trust in the energy that creates worlds, the one single source of all we perceive as humans: The Universal Energy field, sometimes known as Source Energy, Divine Source, All that Is, or God. Quantum Physicists have identified this energy field that permeates everything that we perceive with our senses, and have determined that this field of energy responds to and is affected by our thoughts and feelings.

Quantum Physicist Fred Alan Wolfe, PhD in the movie, The Secret, said,“Quantum Physics really begins to point to this discovery. It says that you can’t have the Universe without the mind entering into it.” He goes on to explain, The mind is actually shaping the very thing that is being perceived. Experiments with particles have shown them responding as soon as particles are being observed.

Whether you view this ever-present energy field in a religious, spiritual, or a scientific way, the fact still remains: The energy that permeates all things in the universe is constantly responding to our thoughts and feelings. If you trust this, then you will find it easier to let go of the ‘how’ and let this energy source assist you. It will respond to your trust by providing your deepest heart-felt desires.

If you do not trust this source, by virtue of your lack of trust, it will reflect back to you proof that you cannot trust it. The Law of Attraction ensures that whatever we believe is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Practice Shifting and Cultivating
So, what do you do if you are addicted to needing to know ‘how’ before you proceed? Start by practicing shifting your thinking and attitudes, and cultivate trust.

• Cultivating trust is like building muscles. Develop your trust muscle so you can easily imagine yourself living the outcome you desire. Spend a few minutes each day practicing— visualizing (see, feel, know) yourself living the outcome of the goal and noticing how it feels for you.

For example, if you want a good parking spot, imagine yourself driving to the location, finding the perfect spot and pulling right in without waiting.

Notice how you feel when you are visualizing (seeing, feeling, knowing) this. Feel yourself physically there in your visualization. Then, let it go and continue with your day. Resist the temptation to get into too much mental detail because that will lead you to ask ‘how’. Instead, focus on the feeling you want and are expecting to experience. Abraham refers to this technique as pre-paving a future experience. As you find yourself stepping into a future that matches your visualization (seeing, feeling, knowing), you know it’s not a coincidence.

• Start with smaller goals until you begin to trust that Universal Energy is constantly responding to meet your requests. We tend to be less attached to emotionally to smaller goals, so use that to it’s advantage if you are just starting out. As your trust deepens, you will find it easier to begin visualizing and feeling the outcome of much larger goals. Soon, you will find yourself trusting and knowing that everything you desire will manifest for you quickly and efficiently.

• Release emotional attachment to the outcome. I realize that the more emotionally attached we are to a certain outcome, the harder it can be to let go and trust. However, if you channel that emotion away from attachment and toward your visualization, you’ll notice something remarkable. The more emotion invested in the visualization, rather than the attachment, the more you will feel as if you are already living the desire you seek.

At that point, it’s only a matter of time for it to manifest. The creation process is well underway, and ironically, you are likely to feel less attached to the final outcome because you already have the satisfaction of feeling as if you are living that reality. And that makes you, and your goal, very attractive!

Feel the Outcome as Reality
How to do this? Let me share a personal experience from my own business.

One day I realized that a client had not paid a large project invoice by the milestone date. I called their accounting department to find out when payment would be made and was told they would “pay it when they got around to paying it.” I was incensed that this client corporation had me working around the clock and was extremely demanding, but was unwilling to pay their invoices on time. Soon, I found myself arguing with their Accounts Payable rep and heard my inner voice say, “Stop. Arguing is not helping.” I forced myself to end the conversation and hang up the phone, and needless to say—I was not in a very good mood!

Realizing that my energy was so negative that I would only attract similar energy by staying there, I immediately left my office. I sought out my kitty cat who always soothed me and lifted my energy. As I petted my kitty, I felt my heart warm and completely forget why I was mad in the first place. I stayed in that loving energy for a while, as it felt so good, and then began to think about the ideal outcome for the situation. All drama aside, the ideal outcome was to have possession of the client payment and deposit it into the bank.

So, I imagined myself holding the check, walking into the bank to make the deposit. I stayed with that visualization until it felt real to me. Then, I went back to petting my sweet kitty who was soaking up all the love.

Eventually, I made it back into my office and went back to work. I had let go of the outcome and trusted that what I visualized would show up. About three hours later, I received a call that the check was in the company’s lobby for me to pick up. It was not long before I was holding that check, walking into my bank to make the deposit just as I had visualized a few hours before!!!

Was it totally easy for me to get out of the “how” and shift my anger toward more productive visualization? It is easier now than it would have been 10 years ago, but it wasn’t totally easy, and frankly I needed the help of my furry friend to truly shift my energy to a higher vibration. (Furry friends are one of our greatest gifts!)

Could I have gotten there on my own? Probably, but not as quickly. If a kitty wasn’t present, I could have turned on some good music and danced, or put my attention on someone who always lifts my spirits. While it wasn’t easy, it was doable…and the more I do it, the easier it becomes.

In my example above, as I stepped out of the ‘how’ and focused on the outcome I desired, I gave the universe permission to fulfill my request in the fastest, most efficient way possible. I was then free to follow intuitve guidance. Jack Canfield has equated this to driving from NY to California at night with your headlights on, seeing only 200 feet ahead of you at any time, trusting that the road will take you to your final destination.

Have you been paralyzed to take action because you first needed to know how you would accomplish your goal? What has helped you to get out of your own way? Share your experiences with us below, in comments…

Finding Value in What You Offer

value

On Monday, I led a Business and Career call for Good Vibe University on the topic of Making Money Doing What You Love (Become a GVU member so you can have access to the recording.).

One of the questions on the call was, “How do we find value in the work we do?”

Since their work comes so easily to them, many creatives struggle to find the value in their art, music, dance, etc. They fail to see how much non-creatives value their fresh perspectives. Creatives open minds as well as hearts, inspiring and uplifting others.

Likewise, healers struggle to articulate the value of their offerings. Healers help those who cannot help themselves, often teaching new ideas about well-being along the way.

Just because what you do feels ‘easy’ for you doesn’t mean it has no value. In fact, the ease you feel is more likely an indication of your calling, and therefore, an even greater value to others.

If we’re unaware of our own value, it’s time to cultivate it…

    • Focus on past successes – One of the ways I was able to find value was to remember all the successes I had experienced in the past, from school, college, and all the jobs I held prior to starting my business. The last job I had before I started my design business was very similar, so I was able to find many examples. Make a list of the ways you’ve been of value to others, whether as an employee, self-employed, or as a volunteer.
    • Track appreciation – If you haven’t already started a warm-fuzzy file of positive remarks from bosses, co-workers, or clients, this is a good time to start one. You could also add it to your daily work journal. Find a way to start tracking the positive comments and responses all around you. What you focus on will expand, including the positive comments from others. In the process, you’ll begin to see your own value.
    • Go within and FEEL it – Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for decades, one thing all of us can do is…get quiet, go within, connect with Source, and FEEL our intrinsic value. All of us have a unique gift that only we can offer the world, which means we ALL have value, if we’re willing to see and feel it. For some it’s how they interact with people or objects, while others are exceptionally good at communicating, or creating something new from scratch. By going within and dwelling on what makes us unique, we prime ourselves to become more aware of and capable of expressing our value.
    • Affirm it every day – You’ve heard me say that EVERYTHING we think, speak, and write is an affirmation. We are either affirming what we want, or the opposite. (HINT: If you don’t want what you are thinking, speaking, or writing to be true, then it’s a clue that you’re creating what you don’t want.) Create your own unique and powerful affirmations. Affirm your value, affirm your skills, affirm your uniqueness, affirm your capabilities, affirm what you like about yourself. The more you affirm about yourself, the more your subconscious is impressed with the message and begins finding ways to mirror the affirmations back to you.

Affirmations work really well for right-brain dominant creatives. However, left-brain dominant analytical thinkers often struggle with affirmations. For the latter group, I recommend Afformations – affirmative questions, such as: “Why do my clients find me/my services so valuable?” “Why am I so unique and capable?” Why am I so skilled and appreciated?”

    • Keep your ‘Value Pipeline’ filled – The Universe is a BIG YES MACHINE, mirroring back whatever we believe about ourselves. Any of the tools mentioned above can help you get in touch with your own value. When you look for proof of past successes, track your existing successes, cultivate the feeling of value within, and affirm it (and/or afform it) regularly, your value will be mirrored back to you.

Once your pipeline is primed, and you are feeling your value, a lot of people stop…they get sidetracked…their connection to their value dips, and they have to start all over again. Prime your Value Pipeline and keep adding successes, meditating on your intrinsic value, and affirming. When contrast comes along, you’ll find the primed pipeline helps support you emotionally, and makes you mentally stronger.

Are there other ways that you have been able to feel the value in the work you do? Share them with us below in the comments…

The Incredible Power of Decision

decision

[This article about the power of decision first appeared on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

The Law of Attraction is part of my daily life now, and applying the techniques has become second-nature to me. Not only am I experiencing great results, I have discovered deeper elements to experiencing success. None is more telling, more potent or more closely tied to success than the incredible power of decision.

Decisions: Left Brain or Right Brain?

Decision is normally thought of as a left-brain thought process, a logical activity devoid of emotion that functions from analyzing data and making a choice. However, I’ve discovered that decisions have a hidden emotional element, that when ignored leads to disastrous results.

Furthermore, when one choice feels better, it is divine guidance, if you will, to move in a certain direction. Ignoring that emotional guidance is usually what creates most human drama. We want to do one thing because it feels better, but we convince ourselves we can’t have what we want (pick your reason, it doesn’t matter) and decide not to follow the course that feels best.

Instead, we slug forward with a decision that feels awful and brings even worse results. That push-pull sets up the drama and the heartache. Without doubt, that is the fastest recipe for failure and a miserable life.

Many people decide, before even trying, that they cannot afford (financially, emotionally, physically, or spiritually) to take a certain action and, in that decision, they squash any possibility for success before they’ve even started. They spend the rest of their life wondering “what if” and playing the push-pull scenario over and over in their heads.

Emotions and Decisions

Decisions, like other thoughts, are made of energy frequencies that include emotional energy. The level of emotion for each decision is based on how connected we are to the expected outcome.

For instance, the decision to use your life savings to start a business might have a relatively high emotion-to-outcome factor, compared to deciding what to have for breakfast or where to park our car.

However, that same decision regarding your life savings might have a lower emotion-to-outcome factor if you have a supportive partner who is making plenty of money to cover monthly expenses for the foreseeable future.

Quantum physics has shown us that everything around us is made up of possibilities and probabilities of conscious always-in-motion Source Energy. Thoughts and emotions are made of this same conscious Source Energy, moving through all matter and across all space and time.

In the decision-making process, when we take a moment to connect to our inner guidance, Source Energy, with practice we can clearly tell which ideas feel best. Which possibilities feel best.

While women are often raised to acknowledge and use their intuition regularly, men still use theirs but interpret it more as a gut feeling. There’s nothing woo-woo about it—the body’s compass is giving us feedback on our thoughts all the time.

As we take notice of the better feeling thoughts, and move toward them, we become even more attuned to better feeling thoughts. Results of our actions reflect the energy with which those actions were taken.

Honing this gift of guidance, turning to it for every decision, the guidance develops into intuition you can always trust. Those who have been deemed visionaries invariably follow their gut feeling, even when everyone else around them are telling them to do something else!

Guidance from Source Energy is unique to each individual, so what feels good to one person—the one meant to take the related action—usually does not feel good to those who are not called to take action. This is why it makes no sense to ask others what they think/feel about guidance you’ve received.

Using our power to decide, in itself, releases stuck energy and sets up powerful momentum. Rather than being stuck in the quagmire of competing options and doubts, making a conscious and clear decision has within it the power to move us forward toward our goal. We’re essentially fine-tuning the signal we’re sending to the multiverses.

Life…A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Norman Vincent Peale always said that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy, meaning that life gives you what you believe it will give you. This means you are always right. If you believe you will succeed in life, you are right. If you believe you’ll fail in life, you are right. If you believe people are trying to hurt you, they will. If you believe people are conspiring to help you, they will.

The Law of Attraction set us up to experience what we believe, what we expect, by delivering experiences of equal vibration to our dominant thoughts. If you think you need to be college-educated to succeed, but can’t afford to be college-educated, then by default of the first decision you have already decided that you cannot succeed. Until you decide that the first thought no longer serves you, and create a new thought to operate from, you will remain stuck in a can’t-succeed cycle.

The good news…you can always change your thoughts! It’s never too late to decide to incorporate thoughts that serve you. Whether you choose to use affirmations alone or use a combination of affirmations with other techniques,

When you truly decide, you get clear in your intention, and when combined with positive emotion that clarity brings swift results. With clarity aligned with joy and enthusiasm, Source Energy is now activated to assist you in receiving what you’ve asked for.

You are then positioned to take action that feels more like play than work. You’ll stay with the process longer and more enthusiastically because the journey feels so good. So, not only is the decision clear, but the action that follows is also full of positive energy. What an unbeatable combination!

Don’t worry if you don’t know which steps to take next, after the decision. The decision itself, with enhanced clarity, will start to reveal the next steps. But nothing happens, until a decision is made.

Make a Decision Today

Ask yourself…

Am I living the life I want to live?

Am I experiencing joy and enthusiasm on a regular basis?

If not, make a decision today that the next time you are faced with any decision, you will make a conscious effort to choose the option that feels best to you.

Decide you live in a benevolent universe that is always supporting your choices.

Decide that Source Energy is providing the good feeling as a way to guide you to the best action for you.

Decide that you will live the life you really want to live!

With the momentum of each decision, opportunities will begin showing up to support you. Don’t take my word for it. Give it a try!

If you’ve already experienced the power of decision, share your decision AHAs below in the comments…

Believing in the Power of Possibilities

Possibilities for Improvement

Whenever someone wants to create change in their life, whether it be to their body, their home, their relationships, their career, their income, or all of the above, they first have to be able to develop a positive concept of “what is possible”. It is from that place of positive possibilities that they can determine what the next steps will be, for otherwise they would not know where to start.

What IS Possible?

The answer to that question depends entirely on who you ask! What’s interesting about ‘what is possible?’ is that the answer is not a one-size-fits-all solution as some experts would claim. It is really a range of answers, a realm if you will, from the easiest to more difficult, from the very small to the grandest of grand to that which has never been considered…and the answer is constantly changing as the universe evolves!

Every person’s realm of possibility is the unique intersection between what they have heard others accomplishing and what they can currently imagine is possible in their minds.

Why is this so important? People act on what they believe is possible for them. If they don’t believe they can do better, they rarely try. Plus, each person is going to have a realm of possibility that is slightly different from others, pre-set by what they learned was possible in their youth, and based on life experiences. Someone growing up poor being told ‘you can’t have what you want’ has a much different pre-set realm of possibility than one who grew up wealthy being told ‘you can have anything you desire, and you deserve the best that life has to offer’. Furthermore, if as an adult you’ve received additional feedback about ‘what is possible for you’, that also goes into the realm of possibilities.

Are you getting a picture of how complicated this can be?

Can you see that how you were raised may be slightly less important that the kinds of personalities support you as an adult?

Can you see how co-creation is more difficult between parties who have opposing realms of possibility?

Many people, if they haven’t heard of others doing something will conclude that it simply cannot be done (which is rarely true) and will not even try. If they are surrounded by people who do not support their desires to be better and do better, they might give up. However, if they have the support of those around them and a creative sense or internal vision of the possibility, they will make an effort…some even feel compelled to try. This is how inventors come up with stuff the rest of us say, “Brilliant idea…why didn’t I think of that?” Engineers who find break-through solutions have done so from an expanded viewpoint of what’s possible. Inventors are willing to open their minds to a greater realm of ‘what is possible?’. Scientists who make great breakthroughs, artists who create new mediums, all of the people who go beyond the barrier of ‘what is possible’ have the same thing in common: A willingness to challenge preconceived ideas and allow themselves to imagine a better way.

Extreme Makeovers: Who Holds the Vision for Improvement?

Extreme makeovers on TV are very popular. Unless you have permanently unplugged your TV, or never owned one, you have likely seen one of the many makeover shows on TV. There have been makeover shows on virtually every theme possible: losing weight, improving wardrobes, decorating or renovating new rooms and/or entire homes, improving physical features or looks…you name it.

I often wonder: What happens to the ‘made over’ after the cameras are gone? How does someone, who has a low opinion of themselves, move forward when others have shown them the possibilities to do and be better? Some follow-up shows have revealed that the inner work needed for change was lacking in these shows, so the recipients went right back to their old way of being. The way of being they knew and were comfortable with experiencing.

A while back, I saw a makeover show on Food Network where an award-winning chef and interior designer came into a run-down restaurant to help the owner improve their business by making over the entire restaurant. New menu and new restaurant decor. The restaurant had been successful once, but started going downhill and never recovered.

Apparently, anyone walking into the restaurant could see (and smell, according to the chef) and probably taste, too, why the restaurant was suffering…anyone, that is, except the owner and his family. They were used to the sights and smells, and had developed a mind-set that it was too hard to change. They no longer saw the possibilities for improvement. They needed outside help to change.

It was also very clear to see that the award-winning experts had a much grander vision of what was possible than the failing restaurant owner. The owner was so stuck in the negativity surrounding the failing of his business that he had a hard time accepting the suggestions of the chef and interior designer. He had not been able (or willing) to see their vision and was highly critical of their efforts until the restaurant makeover was complete. Once he actually stepped into the new vision for his restaurant, and sat down to taste the new menu items, then he was able to grasp what was possible. As a result, he’s kept up with the improvements, and the restaurant is now much more successful than ever before.

That episode of Restaurant Makeover illustrates why so many people stay stuck when they are spirally downward, unable to correct the problems and change course. On one level, they do want improvements, to change their course, shift their experience—but they are so mired in the “what is” that they are unable to envision something greater, something better, something beyond. They absolutely need someone who can see more options, who isn’t mired in “what is”, and can create the space for greater possibility where none existed before. And they must be able to listen without judgement to suggestions that are offered. For many people, that is really hard to do! But, it’s not impossible.

Making Big Changes
So, what do you do when you know big changes need to happen, but you aren’t quite sure change is possible? Here are some suggestions that have worked for me:

Step 1: Decide It starts with deciding that you are ready and want to make big changes. Whatever change you are envisioning will require stepping outside of your comfort zone, and believing something greater is possible. It absolutely cannot be done unless you are committed to the process.

Now, deciding doesn’t guarantee you will know HOW, in that moment, to proceed. However, the power of deciding will set you on the journey of discovering how.

Step 2: Seek help Can you do this on your own? Most people cannot make big changes without the assistance of someone else. We need someone who isn’t emotionally involved in our life to show us other possibilities. Seek an advisor, mentor, coach or counselor who will hold you accountable and help you shift out of your pre-set preconceptions about what is possible for you. Most people choose a coach or counselor because they are readily available, ready to start immediately, and already experienced in helping others.

Step 3: Raise your vibration Allow your subconscious to connect the dots for you. Meanwhile, go do some fun things…go for a walk in the sunshine, play with your pets, visit friends, spend time with loved-ones, meditate, journal, watch an uplifting movie, or whatever you identify as fun for you. Use this time to life yourself vibrationally, and refresh yourself mentally and emotionally.

If you are really struggling, taking a nap to release stress can be very beneficial. You might need to repeat this step many times between the other steps to keep your mind relaxed. A stressed mind will not be helpful, as it is more likely to direct you to vibrationally-equivalent stress-filled ideas and stressful outcomes.

Step 4: Research Find out what the most successful people in the related industry are doing. If you want to lose weight, find out what the experts suggest for diet, exercise, and supporting therapies. These days, the web is a great place to begin searching. Refrain from pre-judging what you read about or deciding that you don’t have the money or resources to do what others have done. Just concentrate on finding out what others have done as it might spur other ideas.

Step 5: Brainstorm Then, it’s time to ask your imagination to provide solutions: Brainstorm ideas, and withhold judgment of any single idea until later. Just let the ideas flow forth. Write down whatever ideas come to you. The more you try this technique, the more ideas will flow. You can even ask the person assisting you to brainstorm with you, if they are willing. Ask first. Most mentors and coaches will do this, but I am not sure about all counselors as different kinds of therapies have different approaches.

Step 6: Take a break before reviewing Remember to rest your mind regularly during this process, and allow yourself to have fun doing things that feel good. Once you feel you have completed your research and brainstorming, set the information aside, and again, go do some fun things. Let your mind relax, while the subconscious works out some solutions. When you are relaxed and feeling good, review your compiled list of ideas. Notice which ideas feel good, even if you are unsure about how to do it, or fear you don’t have the resources/time/money/whatever to go that route. The ones that feel good are the best options for you. This is where a coach or counselor can really help you believe in yourself. Also, notice what new ideas come to mind that might be better options for you. For instance, if you’ve always wanted to learn to dance, consider taking lessons as a way to learn AND get aerobic exercise.

Step 7: Pay attention for right action Right action is the action that is, deep in your heart, right for you. Once your subconscious mind begins to work on these ideas of what’s possible, and you’ve reviewed your research and brainstorming, you may begin noticing opportunities. New information may be sent to you. New ideas will pop into your awareness. Hybrid ideas—a combination of what has been and done what really appeals to you—may bubble up. Be willing to consider ideas that may have seemed out of reach. Pay attention to everything that shows up or comes to mind, and how you feel about each idea.

Follow and take action on everything that feels good to you! The way you feel is guidance for what is best for you…your right action. When you feel sure about a certain action, take it. When you feel unsure or doubtful, go do something else. Often, when we are in a relaxed state, we’ll know exactly what steps are best for us.

A good advisor, mentor, coach or counselor can also support you in weeding out the unhelpful energy, so you can discover the right choices for you.

The Ultimate Commitment

Ultimate Commitment - 450w[This article about the ultimate commitment  was previously published on AffirmingSpirit.com. It has been revised and updated for the enjoyment of blog-readers.]

The Ultimate Commitment is the most important commitment you will make in your lifetime.

When we think about important commitments in our lives, we usually think of things like marriage, children, career, family, and so forth. No doubt, all of those are important, but what is the value of these commitments when one isn’t living well, not eating healthy or exercising, have no time for yourself or your thoughts, and are in a constant state of stress and/or survival mode?

The Ultimate Commitment

The ultimate commitment is the one most often forgotten: Commitment to Self. When I use the word Self, I am not talking about mindless selfishness or the-world-revolves-around-me narcissism. I am talking about the commitment to all of you: Your body, mind, and spirit, and the on-going well-being of all three. Another term for this is self-care.

Making the Time
Women, particularly, often find it easier to commit to helping others than to helping themselves. The irony is that we are really failing those we love and want to help when we haven’t taken care of our own needs first. The woman who makes certain she has regular self-care is not only happier, but also the one who then has the most to give others.

Your overall well-being, including mental attitude, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, and good sleep are the foundation for creating success in other areas of your life. A small amount of time each day invested in taking care of all of you, body-mind-spirit, will pay rich dividends. When you nurture these aspects of who you are, you will feel a deeper sense of gratitude that connects you better to those around you and to your passions. Your commitments to marriage, children, career, and family will feel like less of a burden, and more of a blessing. Everyone around you benefits.

Taking care of oneself is actually one of the least selfish things you can do.

Change the World
Looking for a way to build a better world? Begin where you are by focusing on making yourself happy. The ripple effect will transform those around you, and those around them, and so on!

ultimate commitment - least selfish

When I was a newly-single mother trying to juggle a full-time job with motherhood, I was fortunate enough to participate in a single-parenting support group. The first session, the counselors told us that we each needed to find time for ourselves everyday to fill up our ‘Mommy’ bank—that never-ending source of unconditional love and support that our children need and draw upon.

At first, this made no sense to me and even seemed selfish. But, then I started noticing…on the days that I had a chance to exercise or have quiet time to myself, I was much happier around my son and his behavior seemed more manageable. What appeared as better behavior was, in part, due to my calmness around him coupled with an enhanced ability to cope when issues arose. Both of us benefited when I committed to my own self-care.

Since that time, I have made a commitment to take care of myself, and have watched my son grow into a happy, motivated, high school junior. There were ups and downs along the way, but what kept me sane and grounded was the time I took to take care of my body, mind, and spirit. I’ve never regretted the time I took to take care of myself so I could be a better parent, but I can’t say the same about other activities.

The Self-Care Secret
Recently, the Oprah Winfrey show featured women who looked young for their age. All of them had these things in common: They had positive mental attitudes, exercised regularly, took good care of their skin, and spent their days doing things that they truly loved. The show was incredibly inspiring, and proved that taking care of yourself not only makes life more enjoyable, it keeps you looking younger, and makes you more healthy!

If you are feeling resentful of the demands on your time, this is your wake-up call to make a shift. Take time to notice what’s working, and what’s not. Release what is no longer working for you, and make a plan to do more of what is working for you! I can’t make this change for you. Your neighbor can’t make any changes. It’s all up to you.

Your current and future health and well-being rest on your commitment to self. Regardless of how much you have to change, the good news is that you don’t have to do it all at once. Start by making one change a week. You can easily change one aspect of your life this week, and get the ball rolling.

Affirming Your Best
One of the best ways to nurture a positive attitude is by creating and using positive affirmations. Feeding your mind a steady diet of positive thoughts is a very powerful and effective way of building your self-esteem and creating positive change for your life. The brain does not know the difference between reality and perceived reality, so as you read and say affirmations repeatedly, the brain begins to see it as reality.

Even more important is the emotion behind those words and thoughts. Heart science has proven that positive thoughts combined with emotion causes our heart, and the electro-magnetic field it generates, to vibrate in coherence. This coherent state causes all the organs of the body to function better as well as the release of beneficial hormones in the brain. Our body literally *shifts* energetically to embrace positive change!

ultimate commitment - feeling is key

Change, in itself, is neither good nor bad. Change is what we make of the experience. For example, underweight people might be happy for weight gain, whereas overweight people would not be so enthusiastic. How you feel about the change in your life is key to how you will experience it.

Change can be daunting unless you prepare your mind for the process, which is precisely what affirmations can do for you. When you say your affirmations, do you feel uplifted and happy? If so, you know that you are ready for that change to take place. If not, either the wording of the affirmation or it’s intention, the meaning behind the affirmation, is not aligned with what you really want.

For instance, if you say you want to lose weight, but sub-consciously feel it’s too difficult, then no amount of affirmations will allow you to experience weight reduction. The counter-intention (that it’s too difficult) is too strong!

When you are able to recognize the need for change(s) and feel motivated to experience them, you are at a place where affirmations will be most effective in helping you make the change. The good news is that you can’t really make a mistake, so it’s worth reaching for the experiences (and affirmations) that make your heart sing.

Not motivated, yet? Don’t beat up on yourself.

Procrastinating—or not feeling motivated to take action—is just a sign that your vision and your reality are not quite aligned. Relax and think about what you really want. When you are ready, inspiration and motivation will be effortless, as will be taking the appropriate actions. We’ll be there for you when you are ready to make the Ultimate Commitment.

Cultivating the Business Love Factor

business love

Earlier this week, cultivating love for our business was the topic of a panel call in which I was a participant. Not surprisingly, most entrepreneurs are taught to think of their business according the ‘numbers’: ROI, the number of paying clients, the profit after expenses, growing products and services, increasing the client roster or customer list—the metrics they believe point to whether their business is a “success”.

However, when you understand energy dynamics, metrics are only the reflection of what’s happening with those who started and run the business. It’s reflecting their *past thoughts and actions*.

Before any metrics are generated, the business begins responding to the person(s) starting and running the business. Our energy has a direct impact on the world around us, including our perceptions of our business.

Cultivating the Business Love Factor

While some entrepreneurs start out as employees in larger companies, those who finally have a chance to start their own business tend to gravitate toward:

• Business concepts that excite them, from the offerings to the business model

Ideas that energize them throughout the day, and keep the going so they feel fully engaged

• A sense of doing well by doing good: fulfillment and meaning

It’s easy to see why a business that exemplifies the above criteria would have a positive energy from within that helps it expand. They cultivate their business love on a constant basis throughout the day: in their words, thoughts, self-talk, attitudes, and writing. All before they ever take action in their business.

As a result, when they finally take action they result in great successes that reflect the business love energy they invested up front.

Those who have cultivated the business love factor have done a number of things to set themselves up for success, from the choice of what they offer to who they serve. Their choices from the beginning have lined them up to love every aspect of their business, and their business loves them back!

Not feeling it?

If you’re reading this post and realizing you don’t have the business love factor working for you, you have two choices: make some changes or close the business.

For some, closing an existing business might bring tremendous relief. If that’s you, then do what feels best.

For others, some re-evaluation is in order.

If you are in the latter group, one of the first questions you’ll want to ask is: Am I willing to experience my business differently? A Course in Miracles invites us to say, “I am willing to see this (situation) differently. Take my thoughts and judge them for me, returning to me (better feeling thoughts).” Once you’ve done this, get some much-needed rest to clear out your anxiety.

When you are rested and have some quiet time, write out your ideal business scenarios: What are your days like? What products or services do you offer? Who do you serve? How do feel at the end of your days? What are your business interactions like? Who else is working with you? How do you feel when you are not working? Keep writing as long as it feels energizing and uplifting. (Those feelings are an indicator that your business is capable of moving in those directions.)

Once you’ve written this out, compare it to your current typical day.

Resist the temptation to keep things the ‘same’ for the sake of comfort if they really are not suiting your business. This business is yours, and you have the freedom to change course or course correct.

From there, you can begin mapping out ways you can shift your business offerings and/or clientele/customers to better fit your ideal.

Then, find ways to love and appreciate what has been working all along as well as the changes that you’ve successfully made. Journal about it, think about it, express it frequently to yourself and others. Shift the story about your business so it sounds a lot more like your ideal scenario.

Bottom line: Focus on ways you love your existing business, release or delegate the aspects you don’t love, and your business will love you back!
