Voted Top 5 Best LOA Coach 2012

LOA Leaders Coach medToday, I was notified that AffirmingSpirit was nominated and voted Top 5 Best LOA Coach for 2012 by LOAleaders.com sponsored by Good Vibe Coach Academy.

While I am honored to be included with the amazing list of Law of Attraction (LOA) teachers, coaches, and speakers, there really is only one person who is worthy of this award: Jeannette Maw, the Good Vibe Coach.

If you are a serious student of LOA, you’ve likely come across Jeannette’s powerhouse blog, GoodVibeBlog.com or had the pleasure of connecting with amazingly supportive and like-minded Deliberate Creators at GoodVibeUniversity.com. Jeannette has gathered an amazing global tribe that surpasses any I have experienced before. It’s clear that Jeannette’s energy has drawn all of us together.

It is the honest truth that I could not even have been nominated for this award, let alone made the top 5, if it hadn’t been for the incredible platform that Jeannette Maw created and nurtures!!!

If you have been wanting to learn more about Law of Attraction from people who know what they are talking about and share openly, go sign up for Good Vibe University. You’ll get more real-world ideas and learn more in a few months at GVU than you ever will from just reading books on the subject. So many of the existing members came to “check out” GVU and found it so refreshingly supportive and positive that they are still raving fans years later!

This is almost unheard of in the LOA world, let alone in membership sites where egos usually rule. When folks have been away from GVU for a little while, they inevitably return to say, “Wow, I missed this place and am so glad to be back!”

In the spirit of full disclosure: yes, I was invited to become a faculty member at GoodVibeUniversity in January 2010, and have been active ever since. While I am faculty, I am ALSO a participant who benefits from the positive energy and uplifting sharing, too. I know GoodVibeUniversity.com from both sides (faculty and participant), and having been part of other LOA communities, I know this one is a true gem that far exceeds expectations!

So, Thank You Good Vibe Coach Academy and LOALeaders.com for this award. I humbly accept this award on behalf of Jeannette Maw who is the one who TRULY deserves it!

Many blessings,

No Mistakes…Only Opportunities

Earlier today, I was reminded about the connection between artistic creativity, entrepreneurship, and manifesting.

If you are an artist, then I don’t need to tell you how much that type of creativity requires openness and willingness to let go…of thoughts,  preconceptions, and expectations. Successful entrepreneurs and manifestors benefit from letting go, too.

How, you might ask, does one actually do that when you’re stressed?

ZenTangling is a form of doodling that lets you have fun while training yourself to open up your mind and let go. While there are some established ‘patterns’ you can follow, you can also just wing it and see what happens, often with unexpected and stunningly beautiful results!

© Nancy Barry-JanssonBack in the late 1970s, before I had ever heard of this term, or the name had been trademarked, I was inspired by an unknown european folk artist who drew in a black and white style reminiscent of the Art Nouveau.

I put that inspiration to good use a snow day (no school), and I had the equipment: 18″ x 24″ bristol board, crow quill pens, watercolor brush, and black india ink! I lost myself for hours in listening to music while making tiny circles, curves, and lines in ink with the crow quill pen.

The drawing above is what I created from letting my mind go. Nothing was pre-planned. I remember how focused I was, and yet how free my mind felt while I was working on this. Even looking at this now reminds me of that relaxed-yet-focused state of being.

When was the last time you allowed yourself to be in that state?

As Einstein said, you cannot solve a problem with the same energy that created the problem. To find the solution, we must first find a way to relax the mind so we can think clearly and see other possibilities. Meditation can be a tremendous help, but for those who struggle to relax into meditation, a little doodling can help!

Searching YouTube, I found this video demonstrating ZenTangling – entitled, No Mistakes —Only Opportunities. I was immediately struck by how true that is of life, creativity, entrepreneurship, and manifesting! As the demonstrator spoke, I wrote down the comments she made that could easily be affirmations for life and manifesting…

• No mistakes…only opportunties

• I let my mind go and don’t worry about the outcome

• If I come up against a brick wall…I ZenTangle®, and my mind opens up to the possibilities

• …let (your) mind roll and do as (it) pleases

• Don’t worry about it…let your mind do what it does

• Relaxing and letting go

• Let your inner artist do whatever it pleases

The next time you have a thorny issue to resolve, take some time to relax your mind, meditate, or doodle. Allow the solution to catch up with you!

Now it’s your turn to share: What do you do to relax your mind?

Have You Been Stoking the ‘Need’?

Are you Stoking the NEEDYears ago, I knew someone who used to call me every few hours insisting that she ‘needed me’ to solve the crisis-of-the-moment. In reality, none of these crises actually existed, except in this person’s mind. Despite being fully capable of handling these crises herself, she had convinced herself that I was the *only* person who could help.

Initially, I spent copious time patiently reassuring her and answering her same questions over and over and over. Talking to her positively, encouraging her to see the bigger picture. Meanwhile, I kept wondering WHY this particular person constantly  calling with dramatic stories of needing rescue.

Then, it dawned on me.

This was a common pattern for this gal. Despite being fully qualified in many ways, she had convinced herself that she wasn’t…and that she needed others to rescue her…everyday! She was clearly carrying a story around that must have been something like:

OH, NO…I don’t think I can handle this. This is too hard! I’m not capable or smart enough to figure this out. I don’t want to be alone with this [fill in the blank problem] because there’s NO WAY I can figure it out myself. Someone else has to help me! OMG – HELP! CRISIS! DISASTER LOOMS…HELP…HELP!!!

While she unconsciously stoked the feelings of urgency, crisis, lack and ‘need’ within herself,  it was manifesting in her outer world…or, rather it appeared to her as manifesting. To me, she seemed to be anticipating problems more than actually experiencing them. Law of Attraction was lining her up with experiences that would make her right.  How we show up in the world reflects our self-talk and deepest inner beliefs.

As I type this, and reflect back on this time in my life, this person was also a mirror for me to see my own ‘need to rescue’. Since like vibrations cohere, Law of Attraction was responding to my need by lining me up with someone who needed to be rescued.

In the beginning, I was happy to be of assistance. But over time, it was no longer fun for me to interact with this friend only in this way. In fact, it was downright exhausting and it was not a functional friendship since I was only called to put out fires, not to relate as a friend.

Do you recognize yourself in either of these examples?

If you like this experience, by all means, keep creating it! If you don’t then in order for Law of Attraction to deliver something different, you have to be willing to shift your energy. That sounds tricky, but it’s not as difficult as you might think.

First, start telling a different story. Even if it’s just a softer version of the story you’ve been telling yourself, begin anew. This friend might have started by shifting her self-talk to something like, I usually like to have help, but I am a capable adult…I wonder how much of this I can resolve on my own. If I can’t figure it out by [date], then I will ask around. Then, taking any actions that she felt guided to take that aligned with the new story.

If telling the new story feels too hard, or brings up lower energies of fear, worry, and doubt, it can be helpful to use a tool like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to address those feelings and begin to clear them before you start telling a new story.

The new story I actually told myself to shift out of this experience was I appreciate and cultivate healthy, functional friendships with kind people who are capable and helpful. Abraham has said, when we shift our own energy, our experience must shift in response. In fact, other people may meet us in the new vibration, or they may vibrate right out of our experience. In this particular situation, the person seemed to magically stop calling me, and eventually we lost touch. As I let go of the ‘need to rescue’, this person may have lost the need for help or may have connected with someone else who ‘needed to rescue’.

Second, remember times in your past when you exhibited capability. Chances are, you have many, but may not give them much mental attention. Change that now…close your eyes, remember those times, and feel how it feels in your body. Remember this feeling so you can call it up when feeling capable is desired.

Third, look without attachment for evidence that your new story is materializing. In other words, release attachment but allow the evidence to reveal itself to you.

Finally, practice. The next time you are feeling needy, remember this is a golden opportunity to practice a new vibration. Practice makes perfect, so remember the new story and implement it. Call up the memories from the past, and remember the evidence all around you.

Moment-to-Moment Commitment

A fellow Good Vibe University member shared an Abraham video today and that reminded me reminded me of the commitment I have long-since made to Deliberate Creation…

You have control over the direction of your thought. And the way you feel is about the direction of your thought. You have the ability to focus in ways that you have not exercised. Too many people are dependent on the behavior of too many others which you can’t control. Then it puts you in this uncomfortable position of needing to be true control freaks in order to feel good!

when you get it, when you decide early on or as soon as you can, that you’re going to stop trying to control the uncontrollable, which is everything that everybody else is doing…stop trying to control the uncontrollable and control the only ting you CAN control, which is your relationship with your Vortex!

Let Law of Attraction do all the controlling. And you just adjust your vibration.

You create a better world ONLY from inside the Vortex!

I don’t just teach about deliberate creation and processes like affirmations, visualization, and meditation – I live it and I practice. I recognize it is my choice. Every day. Every moment. Even when I thrash around in resistance, I know that there is a choice to be made.

Sometimes it’s easy to make the choice to think better-feeling thoughts, and I do. Sometimes it’s hard to make that choice, and I yet I still do. Sometimes I am so off-center vibrationally that it takes time for me to right myself before I am ABLE to make a better choice. As soon as I can, I usually do…because it’s part of my commitment to the practice of Deliberate Creation. Yes, focusing takes effort—although not as much effort as thrashing around in resistance.

How EASY we make the moment-to-moment choices to feel better has more to do with our own thoughts, ego, and willingness to see life from a different perspective. Get really good at questioning your thoughts regularly. Recognize your stories and weed out the ones that don’t serve you. Be willing to let go of what isn’t working in favor of what does work for you. (Sometimes, your only guide to what is working better is ‘what feels better right now’.) For me, making that commitment and practicing it has made it easier to get out of my own way.

Your turn —what do you do to get out of your own way and have you made the commitment to Deliberate Creation? If you haven’t made that commitment, are you willing to consider it?

Fine-tuning Inspiration

In case you didn’t notice, last May, I just stopped.

Fine-tuningI needed to reboot and regroup – and the first step was to begin fine-tuning my inspiration. To do this, I had to stop.

I stopped…

…writing blog posts that felt like pulling teeth

…forcing myself to have something to say

…expecting myself to write anything, at all (I can hear the social media experts GASPING all the way over here!)

…and found the silence within to rekindle my inspiration

At the about the same time, I started…

…focusing on what felt better

…reaching out locally and connecting with more people

…participating in more interesting conversations

…a success team, focusing on helping each other

…reconnected to some new sources of inspiration

…allowing myself to take as long as I needed to be inspired

…participating in daily appreciation sharing

In other words: I stopped doing anything that dragged me down and started only taking action where inspiration guided me. Little by little, I began to see what really inspires me. It did me a world of good and helped me heal from the inside out. How you fine-tune your inspiration may look a little different even if the effect is the same.

Is there something you need to stop doing to get back in touch with your inspiration?

How about something you’ve been meaning to start?

As time went on, I just noticed that I wasn’t inspired to write blog posts, but I was making a lot of new networking connections, talking to a lot more people face-to-face, and finding many new ways to feel inspired.

After replying to another person’s post, I was asked to write the guest post about my experience as a mother teaching my then-teenage son, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, to use affirmations to improve his relationship with Math. I was so busy networking and getting word out about my illustrations/web design business, though, that I never got around to writing it. Molly Player, bless her heart, proactively took my blog comment and stretched into the post on her LOA Stories blog. Still, I was inspired to share what Mollie had posted.

Meanwhile, nothing more was inspired for this blog.

However, when Jeannette Maw, The Good Vibe Coach and founder of Good Vibe University, asked me to write a blog post based on a conversation we had last week, I took advantage of the quiet holiday week to get it done. Not only did I write the post based on a discussion we had during one of last week’s Good Vibe University LOA calls, I also recorded myself reading the post for those who do better listening than reading. Go read and/or listen to the blog post Invite Your Problems to Stay and leave a comment!

What all of this has shown me is that inspiration is not only an individual experience, it cannot be mandated. It happens when it happens. Forcing it doesn’t encourage inspiration, it suppresses it.

I also realized that I really enjoy interacting with people. There hadn’t been enough interaction here on the blog to make it fun or to inspire me. I love to discuss ideas with savvy Deliberate Creators who understand the world is a mirror and appreciate the reminders that it is always an ‘inside job’.

Taking the time to fine-tune my inspiration has helped me focus my energy in the best way possible.

This blog was built for interaction…as I continue to fine-tune my inspiration, I will continue to post only when I feel inspired. However, you can help inspire me with your questions and discussions. If you want to hear more from me, here is how you can help: Let me know what questions you have or what subjects you’d like me to address!

Let me know your questions in the comments section below, or ‘Like’ the AffirmingSpirit Facebook page message your question to me.

Your turn: What do you do to fine-tune your inspiration?

TRUST

What does trust mean to you and how are you currently experiencing trust in your life?

Where I am in complete trust, those areas of my life flow so easily. Where I do not trust, havoc seems to reign. This is not a coincidence, it is the law of attraction in action!

Like a Trusttuning fork resonating with the strings of the universe, our state of being is always being broadcast (through the body’s electro-magnetic field generated by the heart). With each heartbeat, your state of trust (or lack thereof) is telling the Universe how to mirror reality back to you.

Trusting is knowing…deep inside your heart…that ALL IS WELL. You may not know *how* situations will turn out, but you know they will. As a matter of course, they always do work out well, even if they work out in ways you may not have predicted or requested.

Allowing Trust

How do you cultivate trust when it isn’t automatically present? So many of us have been raised to believe we can only trust if what we are experiencing proves the situation is worth trusting. However, through my personal growth I began experiencing something different. In many cases, trust is something that bubbles up when we simply allow the possibility.

When we open to the possibility in our hearts and minds that we can begin trusting (whatever it is we want to experience), it’s amazing how the trust seems to bubble up from inside of us. Once we feel it, we know trust is possible. Christian Mystics call this the Christ Consciousness within, the divine energy force that flows through us, shifting based on how we are choosing to experience life. Whatever you call it, most of us have experienced this and it’s affect is undeniable!

If we are closed to trusting (someone or something), then our experience reflects that. The situation reverses when we open ourselves to trusting.

For instance, take something in your life you’ve been stressing about. Recognize the feeling you have in your body when you are stressing, and ask yourself:

What would I be feeling now if I knew this was all going to work out wonderfully? As that question hovers in your awareness, sit with it and feel the shift in your body’s energy. Notice how your body relaxes, and how trusting now feels more possible.

Soon, you will be finding yourself able to relax and trust in ways you didn’t even know were possible before! If you are familiar with Quantum Entrainment / Pure Awareness, try it on opening yourself to the possibility that all is working out beautifully for you.

Choosing Trust

You can live your life choosing to trust or not to trust. It’s always your choice to experience trust or the lack of it, and you are always free to make a new choice. You can live in doubt and worry, or you can live in trust. You can live in frustration and fear or you can trust.

For instance, I trust that I am always safe. Feeling safe and being safe are now a given. I have decided I am safe, and once I made that choice I began experiencing feeling safe more often. Even in circumstances that others would find harrowing, my inner compass trusts that “I am safe” and reminds me often. At one time in my life, this was not true. That’s how I know that we can choose something different and experience the result. I decided to choose trust. You can choose trust.

What are you choosing to trust?

Trusting Versus Taking For Granted

Know that trusting is not the same as taking something for granted. It’s a subtle vibrational difference, but it’s there: Trusting is a confident knowing inside and feels affirmative. Like you are saying “YES, that’s right!”

Taking something for granted, for me, feels ambivalent—like not caring. It’s not even important enough to choose or make a decision about. Many of us would admit that we take our government for granted. We expect it to run and focus on the things that matter to us, but we put virtually no effort toward seeing or experiencing our government improving. Then, we get mad when actions are taken that we don’t agree with.

What areas of your life do you take for granted?

Where could you begin trusting more, and taking less for granted?

As you contemplate the week ahead, I’d like to leave you with one other thought about trust. When you think of trust, think of this acronym…

T R U S T = Totally Relying Upon Superior Thoughts

Superior thoughts are those thoughts that feel good to contemplate. They raise your vibe and make you smile. They fill your heart with hope and possibility.

Now it’s your turn! What do you find easy to trust, and what helps you develop trust? Share your comments and suggestions below.

Who Needs a Coach When I Have Friends?

Boy, this is a topic I have been meaning to write about for a while!

Whether you have voiced it or not, I am betting a number of you think talking to your friends is just as good as hiring a coach.

I know you think this way, because I used to think this waythat was, until I hired a coach when I was launching AffirmingSpirit.

It’s NOT the same – at least, not when you hire a good coach!

Over the years, several of my clients have been truly surprised to find coaching much more helpful than just speaking to their friends. There’s some good reasons for this.

A FEW IMPORTANT WAYS THAT COACHES DIFFER FROM FRIENDS
You might be friendly with your coach, but your coach has a much different relationship to you than a friend. A coach is your partner in moving forward and their only agenda is your ultimate success. Coaches know how to advocate for your best interest, even if you haven’t been willing to do that for yourself. The same may not always be true of friends.

Regardless of what they say, friends have a vested interest in you staying exactly the same as you are right now. Don’t be surprised if your friends try to talk you out of taking a risk, or pursuing a dream. If you grow, that might throw off the balance in a friendship, so friends, by their nature, are there to support you *where you are* but their agenda is not always in your best interest.

Friends are more likely to agree with you when you complain. While it might feel good momentarily to have someone agreeing with you, it doesn’t help you grow and it keeps you stuck in victimhood. A good coach will hear where you are coming from but also won’t let you get stuck there. They will show you new perspectives,  challenge you to envision something bigger for yourself, and encourage you to use your pain as your fuel in following your dreams!

Coaches will help you go farther than friends alone. You will get open, honest and direct communication from a coach. Your friends might be afraid to tell you what they really think. People who hire coaches are not only more productive, but they also have the encouragement they need along the way. Friends can be encouraging, to a point. After that, you are usually on your own.

Friends get tired of being your sounding board. If your friends are starting to avoid you, or have suddenly become too busy to spend time with you…it might be a hint. Coaches are trained to distance themselves so they can be your best ally. It’s like having your own helicopter guide scoping out the terrain ahead of you en route to your dream and showing you all the best routes.

You might not want to discuss some topics, even with a very close friend. This is especially true if you are starting a business or making a big change in your life. At times like these, the confidential relationship between you and a coach is invaluable! Do you want your friends to know all the issues you struggle with or minute details of the business you are launching? Didn’t think so!

ENJOY FRIENDS, HIRE COACHES
Friends and coaches each have their place, and don’t get me wrong: Friends are great ~ I highly recommend them! I have a whole bunch of them, myself. I just don’t go to them for coaching. That keeps my friendships in a positive place where we can focus on having fun and light encouragement.

Coaching is most often time-limited. When you are done with the coaching process, you may still stay in touch with the coach and might even revisit coaching at a later time, but the coaching relationship ends until you are ready to move forward again. Let’s hope your friendships are not time-limited!

If you think talking to a friend will save you the cost of hiring a coach, consider how you value your friendships. Is it worth losing friends to get some occasional advice that might not serve you in the long run? It’s a much better investment to work with a coach for a set period of time, and leave the coaching out of your friendships.

Choice Versus Money: A Powerful Lesson

Rikka ZimmermanEarlier today, I was listening to Rikka Zimmerman’s interview about the Access Consciousness process ~ a process that includes asking a series of questions to unlock the mind and also a clearing statement to remove limiting beliefs.

As I listened to this today, one of the most powerful things Rikka discusses is not putting “money before CHOICE”. What does that mean?

Putting money before choice is when…
You really want something with all your heart, whether an object or an experience, but before you allow yourself to entertain the idea of having or experiencing, you shut it down with negative thoughts like:

  • I (We) can’t afford it
  • That will never happen
  • There’s no way I’d be able to do that
  • I never get what I want, anyway
  • Everyone else’s needs come before mine
  • Fill in the blank…the excuse doesn’t matter because they all have the same affect of shutting down the possibility

How often do you put money before choice, or before what really makes your heart sing?

People who have continually have money make choices based on the outcome they prefer (choice), not the presence or availability of money, itself. In fact, many wealthy people will happily go into debt temporarily, using other people’s money in return for interest, in order to make even more money. That’s called investing.

The interesting thing about whether you can ‘afford’ an experience is that we can always AFFORD what we believe is possible. There is no shortage of money when we believe in the possibility of having or experiencing something we truly desire.

People who attract and always have a flow of money coming in not only know how to steward that money, how to invest it to make it grow, but they know that CHOICE always takes priority over money.

To be very clear: I’m not telling you to whip out your credit card and head to the nearest mall. Far from it.

What I am suggesting is that you first become fully conscious of how you feel and never put money before something you truly desire to experience. I am asking you to shift your focus from what you don’t have to what lights you up!

When you focus your attention FIRST on what lights up your heart…the Universe gets that signal and will knock itself out to bring you the experience or the money to purchase the experience! Either someone will offer the experience to you, or will hire you in a way that provides the money for the experience, or the money will make it’s way into your account.

The first time I realized this powerful truth, I really wanted to have solar panels installed on my home so that I would be generating electricity all year round. When I thought about the cost of the solar panels, I could feel the wind being sucked out of my lungs. I didn’t have any extra money for anything other than paying my bills. Just the thought of how much it cost made me want to forget about it all together!

However, the Abraham materials have taught me that emotions are important indicators of where we are vibrationally. When something feels good to think about, it means those thoughts are in alignment with what Source, or the greater part of you, feels about the same subject.

When I thought about having solar panels on the roof of my home, always generating electricity, it just lit me up inside. The feeling was infectious, expansive, delightful – it just felt really, really GOOD!

So, I stopped thinking about the cost, and focused my imagination on *seeing* those solar panels installed on my roof and knowing that they were always generating electricity for my home. Within 7 months I had the cash to pay for those solar panels in full. Every day, I am thrilled to know the solar panels are on my roof generating electricity and I am so happy that I put my choice above the money.

Money will come from wherever it is to wherever you want it, as long as you don’t put it before what lights you up and fills you with joy. Money is energy that is meant to serve you, not for you to become a slave to it. Putting your choice before money sends a signal to the Universe/Quantum Field about what makes you truly happy. The signals we send out are always answered. Life mirrors back to us what we think is possible based on where we are focusing our attention.

Now it’s your turn – I want to hear from you. Share your experiences putting choice before money below…

Our Stories Create Our Beliefs Which Drive Our Actions

You probably have noticed that I have written a lot about how our stories affect us. Last night, I was watching Oprah’s LIfe Class (episode 3, with Cheryl Richardson) where she talks about how we don’t get what we want, we get what we believe. Our beliefs are formed by the stories we tell ourselves, based on what we have perceived through our lifetime.

Stories Beliefs ActionsMost of the stories we carry with us as adults were developed between birth and 6 years old. When experience meets emotions, we create a meaning around that experience that becomes a story – and a story we tell ourselves long enough becomes a belief. If we witness our father being unkind to our mother, we create the meaning that this is how men treat women. When we grow up, we come to expect that behavior from men and will seek relationships that will make us right about our story…even though that story isn’t true for everyone, and it doesn’t even have to be true for you if you decide to drop the story!

Our stories become our beliefs which drive our actions. If you want to know what stories and beliefs you are carrying, take a look at your actions.

I was personally reminded of the power of our beliefs and stories last week when a gunman in my area killed 3 co-workers, wounded 7 others (6 of them co-workers), and eventually killed himself when law enforcement caught up with him. During the first day that he was loose in my neighborhood, we were not allowed to leave the house as SWAT teams with search dogs scoured the area. I work from home, so it really didn’t impact me as it may have impacted others. The whole time I felt safe and knew we were going to be fine.

As news reports came in about the suspect, his co-workers and friends began expressing astonishment that such a nice, happy person – a single dad who was considered to be an upstanding member of his community – could commit such a series of crimes. Most of the people interviewed could not have conceived this was even possible!

I know that beliefs and stories drive our actions, so when I heard about the disconnect between how this man was perceived by others and how he acted, I knew this man was being driven by stories and beliefs that made him feel justified in his behavior.

When you think about it, this is yet another perfect example of how Law of Attraction is ALWAYS working – whether you believe in it or not – and it’s always lining you up with experiences that prove you right. When you harbor thoughts that feel bad, you attract experiences that feel bad, which causes you to focus more thoughts that feel bad, and attracts even worse feeling experiences. The Universe is responding to the energy you are sending out through thoughts and emotions. It doesn’t matter if you are remembering the past, living in the moment, or imagining the future ~ whatever energy you are sending out is what you will attract back into your experience.

As that day progressed, when the media began interviewing the least-wounded, it became clear that the gunman perceived that his employer and all his co-workers were against him. Although he had been employed for 15 years at this company, he was convinced they were getting ready to fire him.

Now, many people lose jobs and…then they get another job. Sometimes even a better job with better pay and perks! So, in addition to feeling that everyone was against him and that he’d lose his job, the gunman last week also had to believe that he would NOT be able to get another job. Dwelling on those negative stories, stewing and festering in those growing negative beliefs, he felt compelled and justified in potentially killing all of his co-workers…which led to attempting a car-jacking (another victim) and eventually his suicide.

To top it off, his two children no longer have their father. My heart goes out to them!

Do you see how the Law of Attraction was lining this father up with more of what he was focusing upon? It really can be no other way – the Universe can only mirror back to us the same energy we are sending out based on what we focus upon and how it makes us feel!

In the end, like all of us, this man’s beliefs and stories drove experiences and his actions. Yes, this is a horrible and dramatic example, but this man would still be alive today – and his children would have their father – IF he had been willing to question his beliefs and stories! For that reason alone, I do not want this tragic series of events to be in vain.

Don’t let another day go by without questioning your stories and long-held beliefs—become aware of your actions, and follow the stories, beliefs, and thoughts that led up to those behaviors. Question the everything that feels bad (sad, mad, frustrated, irritated, etc.) to think. Those are the ones that will create actions you might someday truly regret.

Need help learning how to question your thoughts? Check out Byron Katie’s TheWork.com (watch the videos where she shows the process in action).

What beliefs, stories and thoughts are you willing to begin questioning?
