Many years ago (back in 1986 actually : ) )my husband and I took a trip to the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. At that time the only way we could get to a coastal village called Puerta Angel was to take a small DC3 jet from the town of Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido, then take a taxi to Puerto Angel.

Soon after arriving at the inn where we were staying I realized that I was missing my purse and that I had left it in the taxi. I told my husband and then I told the owner of the inn who happened to be an American. Since there were no phones in town she offered to drive my husband and I the next morning to a nearby town where there was a phone.

Fortunately I had been reading a book that described the process of affirmation and visualization. The author, Ann Wigmore, emphasized the importance of being in alignment with your intent. I was able to do that and to not give in to any doubt, even when another American at the inn tried to discourage my ability to retrieve my purse in Mexico.

The next morning the owner of the inn drove us several miles to the neighboring town and to the store where the one phone was located on a desk. There was a long line of people waiting to use this one phone. Because of this, Suzanna, the inn owner, offered to drive us to the airport which was about 50 miles away. On the way there I continued to align with my intent and vision. I kept seeing my purse in my hands with all my money and passport in tact.

As soon as we drove up to the airport I saw the taxi that we took to the inn the day before. It was parked right out front of the airport. I rushed up to the taxi and a man who was standing in front of it stopped and asked if he could help me. I told him about my purse and he gave me a look and said, “Senorita, sorry but don’t expect to get your purse back, not in Mexico. ” With that I ran up to the taxi and looked inside. There sitting on the floor of the back seat was my purse. Right where I left it. The man couldn’t believe it. He started jumping up and down yelling. ” Milagro. Milagro!. It’s a miracle! It’s a miracle!

From then on I knew the power of intent. When we are clear and in perfect alignment with our intent miracles happen. ♥

It just takes a lot of work to NOT doubt here and there throughout the day. Especially when the mail comes and there’s more bills. Or, you open your inbox and there’s no orders

Is it possible to tell a different story? Such as…

• When doubt shows up, I just lovingly remind myself that I am the one creating my life experience and I choose [fill in blank]
• I am grateful that mail is delivered right to my home
• It’s thrilling to see how many companies believed in me enough to extend credit and services in advance of payment
• When ‘what shows up’ is not preferred, I take time to visualize and imagine myself living a new possibility
• As I open my heart and focus on new possibilities, my life shifts in that new direction
• I’m loving that I get to choose what feels best to me, and then create more of what feels good

We are always telling ourselves a story. Always. However, you always get to choose which story. If the story you have been telling doesn’t feel good, you can start this minute telling a new one. As you get used to the new story, you’ll be expected to let go of the old one. Conflicting stories cancel each other out. Actually, I stumbled upon this quite unexpectedly~during a period of time when I personally believed that channeling was hooey and those who claimed they did it were scammers. That’s right!

One day, I was so frustrated, I sat down to journal and just started ranting. I was getting it all OUT on paper, and then began asking lots of questions. Suddenly, I was aware of the answers to the questions and kept writing! I’d get the responses in chunks of words, just small enough that I could remember their order to write them down, but they didn’t make sense until I was finished and re-read what I wrote. I kept thinking, “WHERE is this information coming from?!? I didn’t know this stuff!”

Since then, I’ve learned that journaling this way is often called “Automatic Writing”. It used to only happen with pen and paper (like Neale D. Walsh experienced), but now it happens when I type out blog posts. I get intuitive guidance to write about a certain subject, then it comes together as I type and edit.

I’ve noticed that virtually all creative folks (visual artists, writers, dancers, etc.) ~who easily get into a *zone* or altered state when creating~ are experiencing something similar. When I paint, I may have an idea I want to work on, but during the experience of painting, new information and ideas just *show* up. As the artist, I get to decide what I listen to and what I ignore.

So, no rituals…just putting myself in front of paper or computer. Have you developed a consistent journaling practice?
