If you are
new to affirmations, it might seem intimidating and mysterious, at first. Once you begin
to understand how they work, you'll realize that they are quite simple and very effective!
What Are Affirmations?
The first thing to know is that affirmations are positive statements expressing what you desire to experience, that you read (out loud or to yourself) daily to change your thought
patterns. Some generic examples of affirmations would be:
> |
I have time every day for what matters most to me! |
> |
Every day I experience joy and abundance! |
> |
I am now the ideal weight for my body, and feel great! |
Personalize Your Affirmations
Generic affirmations, such as the ones above, are OK, but to really make changes in your own life you need to address the issues that are most important to you. To do that, you will want to create affirmations that are specific to your life. Most people find they need help with this process, so we are now offering individual coaching to help people laser in on their specific issues until they see results (often sooner than they expected!).
As they say, "Where your attention goes, your energy flows." This is the basic idea behind affirmations. When crafted and used properly, they are one of the most effective ways to plant the seed for improvement.
It is important to note that affirmations only work for the person who is consciously usin them, so they are not effective in changing other people, or forcing others to do anything they do not want to do. You can, however, use them to change your own attitudes and behavior. As you begin to change, you will notice that those around you are likely to choose to change, as well.
Read Them, Everyday!
You can write all the affirmations you can think of, but if you don't read them (aloud or to yourself) at *least* once each day you are wasting your time. Reading your affirmations several times a day create new mental tapes in your mind. The more you read, them, the more they come to mind (conscious and sub-conscious). So...write them out, and read them several times a day. If you need to, schedule your affirmation reading times for the first few weeks. Soon, you will remember to do them without having to schedule time.
Get Started with a Starter Pack
For
beginners, we recommend the Starter Pack because it includes a beginners guide to writing and using your affirmation
cards, in addition to 10 cards and the marker that will write on both sides.
If you run out of cards, Refill Packs are available to order.
We invite you
to read some basic suggestions in the Inspiration
section of this site. There
are many good books that have been written about affirmations that go into
more detail and are a great resource for the beginner. Several of these books
are recommended on our Suggested Reading list page, found in the Inspiration section of this
site.
Hungry for
more help? Some people find it hard to read the information above and put it into action. Some people have long-held beliefs that prevent them from seeing success with affirmations. Some people find it easier to learn when working with another person. If any of these descriptions resonate for you, consider joining our mailing list for quarterly articles and insights, and learning how coaching creates amazing breakthroughs.
